April 2016 Newsletter Welcome to the Sherwood WI Newsletter Information for you on upcoming events organised through County and at Sherwood plus a recap of our March meeting below. At the March meeting after the welcome to members and notices, including items relating to the AGM, we had an informative talk and photo presentation from Paul Swift on a history of some of Nottingham's hospitals, particularly the General, Children's and Women's Hospitals and their successor the Queen's Medical Centre. His photographs brought back memories for many members and were a fascinating glimpse into the past for those of us from outside the city. do it regularly but we do need to encourage everyone to take their turn. If you have never done it before we can partner you with an experienced member who will show you the ropes. Please talk to Jan to book your month. YOUR WI NEEDS YOU! Please give it some thought At our May meeting we will be voting on the 2 Resolutions to be proposed for selection at the Annual Meeting in Brighton. If the majority of our group members support one or both of these Resolutions our decision will be passed on to the delegates going to Brighton from the Nottinghamshire Federation and acted upon accordingly. Please consider how you feel about these issues before our May meeting so that we can have a considered discussion and vote. More information can be found in the April edition of WI Life. The Resolutions are as follows - • "We call upon HM Government and the NHS to provide facilities to enable carers to stay

with people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia that have been admitted into hospital."

• "The WI calls on all supermarkets to sign up to a voluntary agreement to avoid food waste, thereby passing surplus food onto charities thus helping to address the issue of increasing food poverty in the UK."
