“There is nothing more precious than a child, and nothing more important to our future than the safety of all our children.”

Schools are considered to be among the safest places in the society for children. Indeed, the statement, “The

school is a child’s second home” has transcended its status from a hopeful notion to a universal belief. It is

the ethical obligation of a school to establish optimum safety measures to ensure that no student feels

physically or psychologically threatened in any manner inside the school premises. Rukmini Devi Public

School, since its inception, has adopted various measures to enhance school's safety and security by

synthesizing the wisdom of experts in the discipline with the latest technological practices. We have

evolved with the times and replaced outdated systems with new state-of-the-art facilities. We understand

that no child will be able to succeed academically if he does not feel safe and hence, have striven to create a

secure and supportive environment in our school.

• Inculcate the value of 12-Cs i.e. Confidence, Creativity, Clarity, Calmness, Competence, Courageousness, Culture, Cosmopolitanism, Communication, Constructivism, Commandership and Curiosity.

• Prepare students for the challenges of the global world…a world that continually demands new skills and competencies… a world that requires the students to excel in communication and inter-personal skills.

• Make the students multilingual so that they are at par in this era of globalization.

• Embrace learning that manifests and transcends students' knowledge as they set forth in life.

• Hone students' proficiency and provide them an exposure to accept challenges and face competition, and thus, gain self-confidence to achieve success in all their endeavours.

• Imbibe, extend and refine moral and ethical values for holistic development of students as good human beings and socially responsible citizens.

• Empower students with knowledge that provides them a firm foundation to lead and create a niche in their respective careers even decades after their exit from RDPS premises.

Mission Statement (2017 - 2022) “The school will develop a well-knit system to contribute towards Digital India Programme by digitalizing 40% of its processes by 2018 and 60% by 2022 consequently reducing the paper usage and promoting environmental sustainability. The school will contribute toward the clean India mission by organizing frequent cleanliness drives, spreading awareness about hygiene through street plays and other mass awareness programmes."

“From cradle to grave this problem of running order through

chaos, direction through space, discipline through freedom,

unity through multiplicity, has always been, and must always be,

the task of education.” – Henry B. Adams

As I watch the monsoon melt slowly into autumn, I am reminded of a

small but significant quote by Charles Haddon Spurgeon: “Seasons

change and so do we. And we must learn to make the most of these.”

We are constantly evolving as a school; we experience a cycle of

renewal each year when we welcome new students to our campus and

bid an emotional farewell to our class XII students. Our school ethos

has also changed with time, adapting itself to the changing demands

of the world, but still rooted to its long-standing tradition of

excellence that it has established over the years.

Our society is presently celebrating, on the one hand, the sudden

explosion of knowledge from internet that embodies the fabric of a

new, more sustainable society, and on the other, the gigantic strides

made in the world of technology, opening the doors to global growth

and prosperity. However, numerous though these advancements

might be, they would still be difficult to access if the future generation

is not equipped with the necessary skills to take advantage of the

opportunities.

This is what Rukmini Devi Public School offers- a rigorous academic

environment that elicits from students the processes of discovery and

creation, and a culture of respect that cherishes the self and the others

as they build together a peaceful, democratic society. Our school, thus

takes pride in a strong sense of community, one in which the students

and the teachers nurture individual personalities and talents to

establish a culture that is safe, positive, caring, and engaging for all.

Our school too seeks to foster such a spirit among the students by

opening multidimensional paths for them to become profound

learners who inspire curiosity, rise to meet the challenges confidently,

and encourage others to reimagine their horizons.Best Wishes

Mrs. Anjali Kotnala(Principal)

“Knowledge is humanistic in quality not because it is about

human products in the past, but because of what it does in

liberating human intelligence and human sympathy.

Education, thus, is not preparation for life; education is life

itself.” – John Dewey

The world has changed enormously since Rukmini Devi Public

School welcomed its first batch of students in 1986, but its vision to

raise individuals adept to take charge of their own destinies remains

as vital now as it was then.

Honoured and privileged as we are to contribute to the society

through the pursuit of education and learning, we are also deeply

immersed in our students’ journey towards self-discovery as they

spend crucial years of their childhood with us honing their

extraordinary talents. We set personalized curricular and co-

curricular targets for our students and work collaboratively with

them and their parents to help them turn their ideas and passions

into something vital and valuable. Consequently, our students get

the best of both worlds: an extensive range of academic

opportunities that challenge their skills coupled with a strong

moral bedrock to allow them to grow into compassionate and

respectful role models for their community. Consequently, in a

world that is slowly falling prey to anxiety, disillusionment and lack

of connection, the Rukminians stand tall and proud, ready to lead

the world.

Best Wishes

Schooling is not an exercise for collecting and memorizing information to ace examinations; it, in fact, involves an accomplishment of an extraordinary bildungsroman in which students with raw curiosities and untapped potentials evolve into good, smart, caring and thoughtful individuals who are also critical thinkers. We recognize quality and excellence in academic and co-curricular spheres to be the two major founding pillars of our institution, and thus strive hard to generate and offer numerous opportunities to our students to maximize their intellectual, moral and social development so that they may experience self-actualization and gain vision and acute finesse to combat vexing social problems of the world. ‘Reflections’, our school's bi-annual newsletter, encapsulates the true essence of our school’s culture by showcasing the achievements of its current students who continue to honour and contribute to the legacy of success built by their seniors. It is said, ”Seek, and ye shall find”. We hope that the pages of the newsletter will delight the readers as they savour the rich harvest of prizes won by their peers and seek inspiration from these to envision a success of a much higher magnitude for themselves.

In a world where everything has become so generic and normal, RDPS stands out as an institution that truly describes the meaning of 'being different' by enriching the life of its students with a strong academic and moral foundation. A dynamic, inquiry-driven academic approach is not the only part to be admired; RDPS has also provided its students with a plethora of opportunities for learning outside the classrooms. The bi-annual newsletter REFLECTIONS is one of them as it gives the students a wonderful platform to share their academic and co-curricular accomplishments and inspires them to strive for the extraordinary in their lives.

“The Universe inside me is full of something special. It is only waiting for the right opportunity.”- Maria Dahvana Headley

RDPS is an institution that realizes our dreams, ambitions and potentials, and holds our hand as we climb the hills to meet them. Our school instills deeply the values of zeal, diligence and resilience and propels us to accomplish our goals and seize the world. It presents ample opportunities to nurture our latent abilities and cheers for us as we stride confidently towards our goal. A great source of inspiration is our bi-annual newsletter, 'REFLECTIONS'. When we flip through its pages, our hearts fill with pride and joy as we discover the many accomplishments made by our peers, juniors and seniors. The newsletter, through its content, explores with its readers realms that extend beyond the known and encourages the students to push their boundaries to gather them. Prabhjot Kaur

Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.” As an institution of venerable repute, Rukmini Devi Public School has worked tirelessly to teach the profundity of these words to its students. A school unique in itself, it carries a proud history of gifting a sound education and moral values to the students that guide them throughout their lives. It strives to inculcate the qualities of honesty, discipline and responsibility, successfully contributing ethically responsible citizens to the society. RDPS provides an opportunity to the students to share their achievements in REFLECTIONS, our bi-annual school newsletter, that, in turn, helps the others to appreciate their efforts and diligence. It also inspires others to participate in various scholastic and co-scholastic opportunities and excel in them. The magazine, by celebrating the accomplishments of its students, not only strengthens their holistic development, but also introduces a positive change in their lives.

23 September 2017“Safety first, is Safety Always.”Rukmini Devi Public school values the life of students and its members and maintaining safety is the top most priority of the school. We understand the value of life and our responsibility towards our immediate locality and students. Keeping the same perspective in mind, the School faculty, Ms. Geetika Malhotra,

Mr. D.R. Goel and Mr. Ashwani Kumar attended a workshop on ‘Safe Schools’ organized by Action Committee, Unaided Recognised Private Schools. The workshop focused on the discussion of creating a conducive learning environment in school where the child should always be in ‘safe hands’. It was discussed that the schools must keep upgrading the infrastructure and train its entire staff to ensure vigilance and follow school norms. The schools must follow the directives of Supreme Court and guidelines of CBSE and Directorate of Education. The resource persons highlighted the fact that it is very important to understand that the schools cater to students falling in the age group of 5-16 years and they are prone to a large range of accidents. Thus, it is important for the schools to take all initiatives to safeguard the interest of the students and provide them with a secure learning environment.

B. STUDENTS’ WORKSHOPS26 July 2017“Calligraphy is a spiritual art that should never be forgotten.” A workshop on ‘Calligraphy’ was organized for the students of class III and IV to provide them a platform to enhance their calligraphic skills. “The arts, science, humanities, physical education, languages and maths all have equal and central contributions to make to a student's education.” – Ken Robinson

At RDPS, our guiding philosophy is to nurture children with a holistic viewpoint, and this is why we firmly believe in honing both physical and aesthetic skills of the students, besides developing their cognitive abilities. Art, craft, drama, music and physical education play a massive role in fostering imagination, creativity, confidence and personal growth among the students. RDPS is proud of the enormous breadth and depth of its physical education and co-curricular programs that encourage children to explore their own potentials and unlock them.

Mood Swings of Nature

When the clouds start singing Wearing a black veil

When every boat in a seaStops to sail

When the sun hides in the skyBut still spreading it's light

When the winds carry messagesGiving us it's insight

When the breeze touches your faceAnd the Angels show their pain

And when the clouds shed their tears It starts to rain

When the water starts dancingAnd in that recked house a candle is litAnd when the ground feels the pain of

the skyIt starts absorbing that within it

When the raindrops produce that musicOn which you can dance all day

And when your thoughtsHave nothing to say

When someone is standing at the roadside

When someone peeps out of the window, having hope in his eyes

When someone believes that one day, the sun will rise

When someone's eyes Steal your heart

And when you expect that the rain has stopped

It is the time when it starts.

Smriti, IX C

Under the full moon's lightAnd amongst the crowd

I saw a little girlFull of doubt

And what a fair maiden indeed was sheHer face shone brighter than the moon

that nightI believe she passed all the eternal powersThat grace and charm was a visual delight

But what was wrong, I still don't knowWhy those red lips appeared so sad

Why was she silent when she wanted to speak

I'm still unsure of the words she hadAnd deep in her eyes I saw her short and

screamAll alone in a cage of black

How hopeless, desperate she would've feltSome fear surely held her back

In a ripped-form-frock she looked all around

Wounded she as, but who knows whyShe hid her words, feelings and guilt

In silence she stood, she did not cryAnd what a pity, I must say

Her only friend was her wrecked-old-toy

He talked to her without words andHe was the only one she could please

or annoyThen in a flash, amongst the crowd

A cruel hand grabbed her tender hand

Silent, she just went away but her toyCried for help, lying in the sandI ran after her, but she had leftI opened my eyes, taken aback

Now I wonder was it just a nightmareAnd if she would ever come back.
