April 2017 Trinity Lutheran Church and School Greengs, Just a couple more weeks. Thats all we have leſt in the Season of Lent, those 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Easter (minus the Sundays). Considering the wonderful Wednesday aendance, many are appreciang the study of The Salutary Giſt. Soon we will be celebrang the service in which Christ Jesus introduced and instuted the salutary (spiritually beneficial) giſt of The Lords Supper. The Maundy Thursday service leads to the Good Friday service which leads to the Easter service that marks the resurrecon of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is the resurrecon of our Lord that brings it all into view. We are forever thankful for those eyewitnesses who have reported that Jesus in risen from the dead just as he said he would. We may get excited about seeing our favorite celebrity or sports figure or polician in person, to see them do what they do best in person. That excitement leads us to tell others who we saw, what we saw, and where we saw it. Jesus did so many amazing things during his me on earth. Some of those events had many witnesses, like when he fed 5,000+ and when he fed 4,000+ on amounts that would barely feed one person. Other events had only one witness, like his concepon. But all those events associated with Jesus coming to us in the flesh, and living and teaching in the world he helped create with the Father and the Holy Spirit, pointed to his overcoming our enemies through his death and his resurrecon. The fact that we have over 500 witnesses who saw Jesus alive, risen from the dead, reminds us that Jesus is truly part of the history of the world. The witnesses also remind us that he will be with us aſter our me on this world is finished. The Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One of God has come and has saved us from sin and death and the power of the devil. These are not just words we say and words on which we establish a belief system. These words describe real events that have happened just as God promised and will happen just as God promises. So as we gather to worship on one more Wednesday, on a Thursday and a Friday, and the Sundays, it all points to Jesus alive and risen from the dead, our Lord and Savior. This is the story we have to tell. This is the witness we have to give – real events, real witnesses, and a real and living Savior who loves us with an everlasng love, a love that we show to one another in humbleness, forgiveness, mercy, and grace. April 2017 Trinity Lutheran Church and School

Greetings, Just a couple more weeks. That’s all we have left in the Season of Lent, those 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Easter (minus the Sundays). Considering the wonderful Wednesday attendance, many are appreciating the study of The Salutary Gift. Soon we will be celebrating the service in which Christ Jesus introduced and instituted the salutary (spiritually beneficial) gift of The Lord’s Supper. The Maundy Thursday service leads to the Good Friday service which leads to the Easter service that marks the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is the resurrection of our Lord that brings it all into view. We are forever thankful for those eyewitnesses who have reported that Jesus in risen from the dead just as he said he would. We may get excited about seeing our favorite celebrity or sports figure or politician in person, to see them do what they do best in person. That excitement leads us to tell others who we saw, what we saw, and where we saw it. Jesus did so many amazing things during his time on earth. Some of those events had many witnesses, like when he fed 5,000+ and when he fed 4,000+ on amounts that would barely feed one person. Other events had only one witness, like his conception. But all those events associated with Jesus coming to us in the flesh, and living and teaching in the world he helped create with the Father and the Holy Spirit, pointed to his overcoming our enemies through his death and his resurrection. The fact that we have over 500 witnesses who saw Jesus alive, risen from the dead, reminds us that Jesus is truly part of the history of the world. The witnesses also remind us that he will be with us after our time on this world is finished. The Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One of God has come and has saved us from sin and death and the power of the devil. These are not just words we say and words on which we establish a belief system. These words describe real events that have happened just as God promised and will happen just as God promises. Trinity Ladies’ Aid March 16 Meeting Ladies’ Aid met March 16, 2017, in the church Fellowship Hall. Jeri Orlowski led us in a light-hearted devotion ending with the Lord’s Prayer said in unison. President Margo Dawson called for the Roll Call to be answered with the number of bedrooms we had - 6 active and 1 honorary member answered. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Treasurer Anne Blank read her report citing receipts in the amount of $239.54 derived from February mites and from Arlene Hoffart memorial and funeral donation. Disbursements included $50 monthly donation, February mites and Knights of Columbus for funeral food for a total of $139.54, leaving a balance of $870.22. There were no unpaid bills. The report will be filed. Old Business: Ruth Oswald reported delivery of 179 quilts for 2016: Bright Horizons (24), Norfolk Rescue Mission (12), The Link (10), The Well (15), Madison Food Pantry (12), St. John’s Lutheran Church LCMS Youth Group (30), and Orphan Grain Train (76). No one plans to attend the PJ prayer party at Peace, Grand Island on April 22.

New Business: The Spring LWML Event will be held April April 1 at St. John’s Pierce. In-Gathering is to consist of donations for Norfolk Rescue Mission. Items needed are men’s white T-shirts, women’s bras, sox and underwear - all sizes (must be new in package). May include children's and infants sox and underwear. For our $50 Monthly Mission Project a motion was made, seconded and carried that Jeri Orlowski buy items for the Spring Event In-Gathering at Pierce on April 1. There was no further business. There were no March birthdays. Reminders: Next meeting is April 20. Roll Call: Reveal our current Secret Sister and draw for a new one. In lieu of a gift for our secret sisters, we will be giving a Special Mission gift. President Margo closed our meeting with prayer. Hostess Jeri Orlowski served the Fellowship lunch. Attention: April 19 Voters Meeting Discussion/Action on Chimney Proposal and Garage Replacement

Chimney Proposal: In order to fix the water damage south of the Altar and behind the Pulpit some exterior work needs to be done in and around the chimney. We have 2 options: 1. Cap the chimney since it is not used except to vent the hot water heater, repair/replace the flashing around the chimney, caulk the cracks in the chimney, and then water seal the chimney, or 2. Remove the chimney down to below the roof line and then shingle over the chimney opening. There are photos in the narthex showing the current look of the church with the chimney in place and the look if the chimney were removed. Garage Proposal: Due to the condition of the single car garage at the parsonage, replacing it will be addressed. The proposed replacement is a 16’x30’ frame storage building with the labor to be supplied by the congregation members. If you have any questions or concerns, let Werner Blank know. (402) 454-2500 or (402)454-2215.
