DEAR GLENWOOD MEMBERS AND FRIENDS,

Houston’s historic Glenwood Cemetery was founded in 1871 and designed in the style of the 19th-century garden cemetery movement. Now as then, its park-like atmosphere offers an island of calm in a vibrant urban setting. Glenwood’s expansive 88 acres are home to a beautiful assortment of trees, flowers, wildlife and historic statuary. Glenwood also has the distinct honor of stewarding the final resting places of many notable Houstonians and historical figures.

In 1999, the Glenwood Historic Preservation Foundation (GCHPF) was established to raise funds to preserve and enhance the beauty and historical integrity of Glenwood Cemetery through projects beyond the scope of day-to-day maintenance and operation. The Foundation remains committed to its mission of stewarding the museum of beauty that is Glenwood, “Houston’s Silent Garden”.
