MRI Program Director and Radiation Therapy Professor Jeff Papp said students completing the program are eligible to take the certification exam in Magnetic Resonance Imaging offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. “Even though this new program doesn’t start until fall semester, we have been receiving phone calls for months from interested students and from clinics who want to send current employees for training,” he said. Hurrah for Horticulture! The six COD students above recently competed and placed in the top half of the colleges and universities across the U.S. at the National Collegiate Landscape Competition, known as the “at the “Olympics of Landscaping.” Click here for details. In addition, a team of Horticulture students (below) were recently recognized at the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association Excellence in Landscape Awards Night for their exceptional efforts at the annual ILCA 2015 Landscape Design Contest for College and High School Students. COD Cares at Hamdard Center COD Cares Action Heroes recently tapped into their “inner Rembrandt” to paint community rooms at Hamdard Center in Addison. In addition to painting, the crew sorted donations and rearranged storage closets. Hamdard Center is a not-for-profit health and social service agency whose mission is to promote the physical and emotional health and psychological well-being of individuals and families in the South Asian and Middle Eastern communities. CODCON XX Draws Record Crowd The College of DuPage Sci-Fi/Fantasy Club drew a record-breaking 350 participants from as far away as Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana at its annual gaming convention, “CODCON XX: Gamers…Assemble.” This year’s convention featured a broad range of gaming attractions, including anime, classic and contemporary board games, discussion panels, Live Action Role Playing (LARP) and role-playing games (RPG), miniatures and video games, as well as concessions, game demos and vendor stands. ACT-SO Gold Winners! Eleven students were awarded gold medals in 14 categories at this year's DuPage ACT-SO Awards. The students will move on to compete at nationals in Philadelphia in July. Altogether, 34 students representing 24 area high schools placed in the DuPage County ACT-SO Local Competition held March 21 at College of DuPage in the areas of Science, Business, Humanities, Performing Arts and Visual Arts categories.
