RECENT PRAYER CONCERNS

♦ Jeff Morris will have shoulder surgery on Tuesday morning. ♦ Joyce Strejcek is recovering and doing well after a trip to the hospital for a significant allergic reaction on Wednesday evening. ♦ Tom Bryant had surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis Thursday. Because of the return of pancreatic cancer, his pancreas and spleen were

removed. The surgery went well, but he will be in ICU for several days. ♦ Allene Owen has moved to Mercy Rm 2222 for rehab following a TIA. ♦ Donna Bowen remains in The Maples Rm 208 for rehab following knee surgery. ♦ Jake and Josh Brumfield will have genetic testing and their routine check-ups

this week at St. Jude’s. The family asks for prayers for good results. ♦ Linda Claxton’s mother, Ellen Rail, has been discharged from the hospital back

into assisted living. She is now under hospice care. ♦ Jackie Newman, father of Ron & Carol Thomas’ son-in-law, is in Cox S. ♦ Pat Logan’s nephew, Joe Dale Davidson, is suffering with terminal cancer. He

is undergoing radiation treatments, but has begun bleeding internally. She has asked for prayers for him and his family.

PRAYERS AND SYMPATHIES GO OUT TO: Rob Cook, Kathryn Neil and Debra Williams, on the loss of Rob’s wife, Debra’s daughter and Kathryn’s granddaughter, Jennifer Cook. Funeral services for Jennifer Cook will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Prairie Cemetery in Halltown. Also to Frank & Carol Gilmore on the loss of their nephew, Brian Davis, of Dallas, who passed away in his sleep on Monday morning. He was 37.

Welcome to Sunset on this first day of our Marriage Matters Workshop with Jerry and Lynn Jones! We welcome this couple who make it their ministry to bless and encourage the institution of marriage. During our Sunday school time the men will be meeting in the auditorium and the women in the Fellowship Hall.

Over the past two weeks we have had 9 individuals who have been immersed into Christ. We give glory to God for this period of fruitfulness and Kingdom growth!! Last Sunday, Dwight baptized Emali Kimker into Christ. She and her fiancé, Matt Price have been attending here and Dwight is doing their pre-marital counseling. They are both students at SMS and will be graduating this spring and getting married on May 25th. They plan to move to Kansas City for jobs and continuing education. Then, on Tuesday, Larry Eichner was baptized. Larry is the husband of our Sandy Eichner and has been attending here for some time. On Wednesday evening Michael Luce was baptized into Christ. Thanks to Brian Vanwinkle and Dwight Samuel who shared Jesus with him. And most recently, this past Thursday, Ricardo Perez, the cousin of Mainor Perez, was baptized. He is visiting Mainor and Anielka and is from Miami, FL. Pray for these new additions to our spiritual family. God is good!!

Congratulations to Heather Chaffin, daughter of Jody and Angela Chaffin, who was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society! She also won the 800 meters and 4 x 400 relay on her track team! We are proud of this young lady!!!

Plan to be part of the Marriage Matters Workshop this week and pray that marriages will grow stronger in our community. Have a great week . . .

YOUTH – CREW notes

The Marriage Matters Seminar begins today and our teens are encouraged to attend each class, except for this afternoon. Teens who volunteered will be helping with childcare then from 2:15-4:30pm. TNB from 7-9pm will be at the building this week to hear “Unrealistic Expectations” & “Trouble in Paradise: Pornography”. An Ice cream bar will be served for the Youth after. Area Wide Youth Night next Sunday evening will be at Mt. Vernon so make plans to attend! Chattanooga Adventure Trip – $25 Deposit & Packet due by May 5th.
