For us this becomes the busiest time of the year. April especially is quite full due to State testing and hosting the SE Music Fest. Our 9 th and 10 th grade students will be taking the AMP (Alaska Measure of Progress) Assessment during the first two weeks of April. Although we know the State is planning on using a different assessment in the future this will be another great opportunity to see if we have made appropriate gains over the last year. Please encourage your students to do their best and we will do everything we can to provide the best testing environment for them. Thank you to those parents who volunteered on very short notice to make time to come in and meet with the accreditation team. We appreciate your willingness to sit down and chat with the team and discuss the happenings (good and bad) at Kayhi. Lastly, we are asking for help with Music Fest. This is a great opportunity to host hundreds of students from Southeast as they showcase their musical talents. We’re in the homestretch: 4th quarter of this 2015-2016 school year. For us this becomes the busiest time of the year. April especially is quite full due to State testing and hosting the SE Music Fest. Our 9th and 10th grade students will be taking the AMP (Alaska Measure of Progress) Assessment during the first two weeks of April. Although we know

the State is planning on using a different assessment in the future this will be another great opportunity to see if we have made appropriate gains over the last year. We need housing and if you would be willing to open your home to some of these visitors, please contact our AD, Jenn Smith, so we can get you on the list! Fasten your seat belts; this quarter is going to go fast!

THIRD QUARTER GRADES Included with this mailing are third quarter grades. There is only one more quarter to go, so if your student is concerned about their grades they have time to improve before the end of the year. Keep in mind that 4th quarter grades, as well as

the 2nd semester grades, determine the student’s eligibility for the fall sports of 2016. If you have any questions about your student’s grades, please contact their teacher as soon as possible.

•American Government/Street Law seniors are required to attend one public meeting and complete two hours of community service during fourth quarter. In addition, they have the option of going on a police ride-along or completing an additional three hours of community service. •If you have questions about scholarship or post-high school planning, please talk to Mr. McClory. •It is very important that seniors continue to apply their best efforts and have a strong finish to the year. Missing classes diminishes success.

Please reserve Sunday, May 22 for Baccalaureate @ 2pm followed by the Senior Tea from 3-5pm in the commons. The junior class is hosting the annual tea for family and friends of graduating seniors and all are invited to share an afternoon of fun, music, light snacks and tea. Graduation is Sunday, May 29th @ 2pm in the Clarke Cochrane Gymnasium.

Parents of Juniors: Soon we will be contacting you to ask for donations of desserts and finger foods for the annual senior tea slated this year for May 22nd from 3-5pm in the Kayhi Commons. Volunteers from the junior class and their parents are needed to set up and serve an afternoon tea. If you know you are able to assist, please contact Judy Christensen at [email protected]. This is a community tradition and next year your children will be honored in like fashion! Thank you in advance for your help and generosity.
