Managing Oracle Applications
Oracle Applications support critical business processes in areas
such as Financials, ERP, and SCM-all components of the Oracle E-
Business suite. The Oracle Applications support team, consisting of
applications, databases, network, and storage administrators, has
the critical role of ensuring that any interruption to service is re-
solved before the business suffers.
Oracle Applications are supported by and communicate with a mul-
titude of database instances, application servers, and web servers
as well as many other components. All of these components work
together to serve thousands of processes, forms, users, and trans-
actions; all of them connect to Oracle Applications from different
geographical locations; and all are expected to have high availabil-
ity and fast response times. To understand the nature of perform-
ance losses in Oracle Applications and to resolve them effectively,
the support team needs deep visibility into transactions, users,
forms, program, locations, and business functions, and an under-
standing of how they are tied to the performance loss. Precise for
Oracle Applications continually monitors Oracle Applications and
the entire infrastructure that supporting them in order to:
Deliver alerts on performance degradation
Identify performance trends to forecast and prevent future per-
formance degradations and business impact
Troubleshoot Oracle application performance incidents
Track down application transactions across the different tiers
such as Web, Java EE, database and storage
Precise helps Oracle Applications support teams identify failing or
underperforming components, prevent the most critical problems
from impacting the business, and resolve the rest in a timely man-
ner.
Oracle Applications Management “Know-How”
Precise for Oracle Applications automatically monitors and corre-
lates activity in Oracle Applications transactions, following the
transactions across all tiers and identifying the contribution of each
tier to the transactions’ total response time. The Oracle Applica-
tions support team can immediately identify the slowest transac-
tions using categories such as users, departments and locations.
DBAs that support Oracle Applications can quickly identify the
slowest SQL queries and understand which transactions and which
users are issuing these inquiries to provide a highly qualified reso-
lution. Precise for Oracle Applications provides automated perform-
ance analysis built on over 20 years of hands-on experience and a
summary of all problems detected in every tier by order of impor-
tance. For every problem reported, Precise for Oracle Applications
also provides actionable recommendations on how to solve it, help-
ing every member of the Oracle Applications support team solve
performance problems in the shortest time possible.
