Native Girl Syndrome:Colonialism in In Search of April Raintree
and Real Life
Introduction
Why we chose In Search of April Raintree Colonialism was that thing that shaped April
and Cheryl's lives drastically We saw the effects in everyday life Colonization: “the economic cultural and
political process whereby one group of people is dominated by another group.”
In Search of April Raintree
Some examples that we could talk about in this section are native girl syndrome (I named the powerpoint after it because I thought it fit, but of course that can be changed), the treatment from the DeRosiers (the point about cutting off their hair could be an interesting one to look at) and what ultimately happens to Cheryl. However, it is entirely up to you which direction you want to go.

We could also look at some of the articles maybe? “Abuse and Violence: April Raintree's Human Rights (if she had any) had some things about how hard colonized views can affect children (being that they are impressionable) that could fit.
There's also “The Special Time” which was written by the author herself and recounts her personal struggle with systematic colonialism.
