Airbag jacket

Description

An airbag system incorporated in a motorcycle jacket which deploys in the event of a fall to protect the rider’s spine.The airbag system used in Aprilia jackets is manufactured entirely in Italy and is EN1621-2:2003 certified. This airbag device offers between 10 and 12 times better protection that conventional back protector. The airbag offers extended protection to the entire spine, from the base of the head to the coccyx. With a certified transmitted force of just 1.1 kN, the impact protection of the system is far superior to a conventional back protector (the best performing level 2 rigid back protectors have a transmitted force value of 9 kN or slightly less).

HoW IT WorKSAs the rider mounts the motorcycle, he or she attaches the clip at the end of the elastic cable to the motorcycle (to a strap supplied with the jacket and installed on the saddle). The cable is connected to a mechanism containing a Co2 bottle inside the jacket, which is triggered only if the cables is jerked with sufficient force indicating that the rider has fallen off the motorcycle.
