Pastor’s Perspective ------------------------------------------------------
Superintendent Jeffrey M. Lewis, Sr.
The Christian Proclaimer...3
“When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all He’s done for me, my soul
shouts hallelujah. I praise God for saving me”
God bless you my New Antioch family,
I begin by saying, “Our God is so good”. That’s why my motto is, “Even on a
bad day, He’s still a great God”. It’s because God is always worthy of all of
our praise.
Well 2018 is flying by and I trust God has given each of you a reason to rejoice. Personally, I rejoice
for my life, health and strength. Many of the basic physical functions we take for granted, truthfully
are daily chores for some and because of that not only do I thank God for His grace but also for the
fact that I’m still here. I thank God for salvation. I know many of us have been saved for a long time,
but can you imagine this life without Christ? Can you imagine where you’d be, what you’d be doing,
had God not chosen you? Saints, if you need a reason to praise God, use that one.
Because of salvation, not only are you a citizen of heaven but you’re in right-
standing and good fellowship with God right now. Wow, every time I think about
that it blows my mind.
As we continue on in 2018, I’m proud to report that God is still blessing New
Antioch. While it’s not His will for us to ever become complacent, what He’s
currently doing and building in our midst is great and marvelous in our eyes.
Because of that, let’s continue to walk in love. “By this shall all men know you’re
my disciples that you have love one for the other”. We don’t just attend the same
church, we’re a church family. And for that reason, let’s pray for each other. Let’s
support each other, let’s check on each other. For not only is that the will of God
but I heard someone say, “We’re better together”.
I love you NAC family and I appreciate your unwavering love and support.
Pastor Jeffrey Lewis Sr.
P. S. - Women, I’m looking forward to your day…

The New Antioch Basic
Bible Institute was a dream
of the Founding Pastor of
the church, the then Pastor,
but now Bishop James A.
Lewis. Through much
prayer it came to fruition
in February of 1999 under
the Direction of Director/
Dean Mrs. Eddye Rambo.
The purpose of the New
Antioch Basic Bible Insti-
tute is to provide basic Bible knowledge to men and
women who are pursuing God’s fulfillment for their
lives. The Basic Bible Institute also provides con-
tinuing education for the general population of the
church community who may not have access to other
institutions of higher learning.
To this date there have been 205 students to graduate
from the Institute and a slate of as many as 17 highly
qualified instructors who volunteer their services to
advance the cause and ministry of the Kingdom. The
program started with Part I (The Doctrine of the
Church of God in Christ), in 2012 added Part II (The
Four Gospels and the Book of Acts), and in 2015
added Part III (Evangelism and Mission [Past, Pre-
sent, and Future]).
The Institute meets every Tuesday of the month from
February – May culminating with a Graduation Cere-
mony the 2nd Sunday in June.

The institute pro-
vides and allows stu-
dents to develop
their spiritual gifts to
operate in the power
of the Holy Spirit at
the level that God
desires for them. All
members as well as
others are encour-
aged to continue to
support the teaching ministry of the New Antioch
Church.
It is the desire of Bishop James A. Lewis, President,
and Superintendent Jeffrey M. Lewis, Chancellor,
that each student will progress in ministry with an
understanding of basic doctrine and the confidence
needed to be effective soul winners. Students will
be strengthened through the teaching of God’s word
during the months of studies, and the Institute prom-
ises to be exciting, spirit filled and dedicated to the
service of equipping the Saints for a greater work.
Superintendent Lewis says, "Thank God for the
vision of our founder and expertise of Dr. Rambo. BBI
is such a blessing to New Antioch."
“As a student of the New An-
tioch Basic Bible Institute
(BBI), I thank God for these
courses and the opportunity
to be an active participant
side by side with my loving
wife as we grow together in
Christ. My attending class as
a whole was found to be very
helpful and spiritually uplift-
ing studying the living word
of God. Daily encounters, be
it in the home, on the job, driving in traffic, having
conversations with others etc., we now understand
certain things from a totally different perspective
through the word of God. Having a better under-
standing of the word of God and the things of the word
of God not only
One definition of Christian is being a disciple of Christ. However, being a disciple of Christ may include going on a
two-fold journey. First, we must learn how to develop ourselves all over again from a new perspective, which is to be
like Christ Jesus. Then, eventually going forth and teaching others how to be disciple’s of Christ - not just mere
converts sitting in the pews of the church day in and day out. In the book “The Great Omission”, by the author
Dallas Willard, he talks about reclaiming Jesus’ essential teachings on Discipleship. He states that back in the day
when Jesus walked amongst mankind, there was a certain simplicity to becoming a disciple. There were no classes or
training courses on how to be a disciple back then - Jesus was the example! Matthew 4:19 (KJV) – “And he saith
unto them, Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
Today, we cannot physically follow Jesus as the disciples did in those days, but we have the word of God to
lead, guide, and direct us on what to do from a biblical standpoint.
The author of the “Great Omission” goes on to point out that today as a community in the twentieth-century,
the average man has had little impact on societal problems or social justice. In fact, he said it may seem that the
world is really getting out of hand as far as the family structure, rights of Christians, and fundamental moral issues.
We must learn from the example of Christ as the disciples of old did back in the day. They learned how to
live life for the kingdom to come. As stated before, the disciples followed a simple path to following Christ. While
attending divinity school I learned some of the simple things the disciples did with the Jesus as they followed him.
They did such simple things as eating with Jesus, camping, praying and fishing with him. Jesus even gave the
disciples nicknames, as well as met with the families of the disciples. It really showed me that to really make true
disciples, you may have to get to know a person from a natural standpoint also. But not from a far-off distance
because that person may also need a core group of people that can surround them, to teach them, instruct and pray for
them when needed.
In our daily life we need to spread the word as the disciples did back in the day, even if it just starts with our
immediate family. In fact, they might be the ones that need it the most!

A 30 year Commitment to the Music Ministry by Dr. Constance Jordan
Psalm 92:1 It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High.
On April 8, 2018 at 4:00 pm New Antioch Church honored its own as it
gave tribute to Brother Kevin Nickelson, an anointed man of God for
30 years of continued musical ministry. Brother Kevin is the heartbeat
of New Antioch, always striving to honor God in melodious gospel.
The Appreciation Service began as Brother Kevin was escorted in by
his lovely wife, Sister Bridget Nickelson, his adorning companion. The
opening prayer made mention
of his 30 years of service.
Brother Kevin’s sister, Sister
Karen Freeman served as Mis-
tress of Ceremony, giving
honor to a life well lived in
our great church. Sister Karen
shared many stories of her
brother, speaking always of
the talented, caring and humble heart that we know and love. Brother
Kevin was honored in many ways by the overflow of guests that attended
the service, from musicians, to pastors of other churches where he lends his heart, to choirs and other performers
that honored him. Many people filled the sanctuary to overflow in thankful appreciation. The Holy Spirit definitely
moved throughout the service, as He has on many
occasions at New Antioch. Our Pastor, Superinten-
dent Jeffery Martin Lewis and New Antioch Church
of God in Christ, are honored to have such a tal-
ented, wonderful man of God, who serves the
Church in such a beautiful and spirited way. Brother
Kevin communicates the true Glory of God in music
that invigorates and helps to usher in the Holy Spirit.
To watch how he directs the choir and musicians, the
church seems in perfect harmony, taking us away
from the world outside. We know as we enter the church that not only through the preaching
of our Pastor, we will hear music that will change you in some miraculous way.

Access to Excess Matthew 7:7-8 & Luke 6:38
When you buy a ticket to an event, whether it be a concert, sports game,
live show, etc. you gain access. However, for the right price, you can re-
ceive a VIP backstage pass. This pass will give you access to the special/
exclusive package of goodies AKA the excess. The package includes:
meet and greet, special seating, party, gifts, exclusive insider information,
never before seen footage and more.
In like manner, we as believers, can gain an all access pass to the excess
God has stored up for us. The excess is His kingdom. Within His king-
dom are wonders beyond our wildest dreams, blessings out of this world,
unmerited favor, anointing, power, greater glory, amazing strength,
promises, unconditional love, forgiveness, renewal, rejuvenation, protection, grace, mercy and much more.
How much does it cost you ask? Nothing. All it takes is some action on your part. All you have to do is seek
God through His word; Stand at the door and knock; Obey what God says, and have and exercise faith the size of a
mustard seed. Once all of that has been pressed down and shaken together, He will, at the appointed time, grant you
access to the excess, which will be running over.
Matthew 7:11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much
more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
As you move further into 2018, remember God wants to give you access to the excess. No need to get jealous of oth-
ers, or try and skip the line. There is a VIP access package tailor made just for you.

Salty
Saints by Terry

If not by
the Saints
Then how
shall the
earth be

If not by
our
worship
and praise
Then how
shall the
Savior be
exalted?
If not by
our light
shining
on the
hills
How shall
a dark world see the
Son?
If not by our love
and compassion
Everyone desires peace of mind, a day of rest.
But as I have discovered, too much of anything
is not a good thing. How so? By nature, when
we become complacent or too comfortable we
often lose sight of our main objectives. If we
aren’t careful, we could easily fall back on
what seems right in our own eyes and lean to
our own understanding. Instead of seeking the
face of God and the abundance of riches He
has in store, we might seek our own riches.
The Bible is really clear in (1 Timothy
6:9NIV) Those who want to get rich fall into
temptation and a trap and into many foolish
and harmful desires that plunge people into
ruin and destruction.
One of the main dangers of getting too comfortable in our Christian walk is that over
time, comfort has a tendency to lead to a sense of entitlement, as if God or the world
owes us something. Our walk and our works that we once called an honor and a
privilege, can, if we aren’t careful, may become only selfish desires. More and more
we want things – greater securities, greater levels of comfort. As believers we even
find our conversations changing with people, comfortably becoming more carnal-
minded. We find ourselves comfortably talking about fruitless things that don’t edify
the kingdom of God.
Too much comfort works against spiritual progression, causing one to lose his or her
edge. Purpose-driven motivation comes from within while our natural inspirations
can sometime come from a source that you were not originally seeking. When we
become stagnant our expectations for something greater become compromised. Even
our standards are lowered when we lose our discipline. We find ourselves under the
weight of past successes or transgressions. Don’t get
comfortable! As believers we must stay current and be
spiritually conditioned in the faith. Keep pressing towards the
mark in order to remain spiritually fit for His good pleasure.

THE IN-REACH MINISTRY IS BACK! “Be devoted to one another in love”, Romans 12:10a
Praise the Lord Saints! The In-Reach Ministry is back in operation under the leadership of our Assistant
Pastor Ronald Bruce. This ministry is one of the many passions of our pastor and it’s his heart’s desire to make
sure that the love of Christ is being demonstrated to each member by making sure that no one feels unloved and
unaccepted. This passion of his will be demonstrated through the In-Reach Ministry.
New Antioch Church (NAC) is a fast growing and thriving church and it’s impossible for the pastor to
keep up with each member of the congregation. To make sure that each member is being touched and doesn’t feel
left out, the pastor has decided to revive the In-Reach Ministry. He has always desired for NAC to be a close-
knitted and loving family.
The In-Reach Ministry is comprised of a group of individuals who share the same passion as the pastor
where it pertains to the membership. Their sole purpose is to be his hands, heart and eyes by making sure that each
member feels his love and touch when they’re out or absent from church for a period of time. This loving touch is
done through a phone call. If the In-Reach Ministry notices that a member has been absent for two or three con-
secutive weeks then they kindly reach out to the person by giving them a warm phone call and offering prayer if
needed.

We have specific dreams that catch our attention. We know deep down the dream is
trying to tell us something. It could be a warning, a new ministry, or strategy that God
is revealing to us. Some of us quickly write in a journal or speak with someone about
the dream. Much time may pass, even years, but that dream stays with us. Then
suddenly, the answer to the dream that has puzzled us is revealed. The Awakening
happens. We begin to remember signs and things that were told to us that will aid us in
accomplishing the mission of the dream. This awakening gives us new direction and
purpose. It’s as if you’ve come alive. The question is, “how long does the awakening last?” We stay on task for a
short time and then let it go. People have various reasons why the eagerness of the dream leaves. We set goals for
ourselves or other people have goals for us to accomplish. The dream doesn’t fit. Yes we get excited; we praise
God for the answer, preach about it, teach about it, and testify about it. Then it goes back to being just a dream.
Then the dream in later years becomes; “Would’ve, Should’ve, Could’ve”. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 reminds us that
there is a season for all things. Let us be honest. We don’t always accept the seasons that we are in. So we usually
delay the exiting of that season by not completing what was given to us before or during the season. We become
complacent in the awakening. Excuses begin to form. Things like - not what I expected, too much work to do,
cares of life, or we it pass it on to someone else. This delays us from reaching our full potential in God.
When the awakening happens I admonish you to Praise God for the revelation and seek His face in prayer. Ask
God to give you the complete strategy on how to do, when to do, and do the research to become knowledgeable in
the assignment.
Paul has an account of this happening to him. The Holy Ghost blocked Paul from doing what he wanted to do.
Paul had a dream that placed him on a path he needed to be on for that particular season. Paul had the awakening
that changed people’s lives for the better Acts 16:6-10. Paul had people with him. They would have followed him
anywhere. Be mindful, there are people assigned to us. We do not want to delay them in their season or lead them
astray. The Word of God doesn’t say that he had dialogue with anyone about that dream. Now, that is a lesson
right there - Cannot share everything with everybody!
As God reveals His heart to you in your season, be open to receive it. Let us not just talk about it. Let us act on it.
The world can change for the better. All of us have assignments to complete. We should look at the assignment as
long term instead of short term. On the cross, Jesus, thought about long term (Revelation 21:5). Do what is needed
to stay awake. Remember, it’s not just for you.

The Art of Letting Go by LaQuita Suggs
All too often you find yourself faced with life chal-
lenges, struggles and/or circumstances that produce in-
tense emotions, distorted thoughts that may lead to ad-
verse action. No matter what you experience in life, as
Christians we must caution to undertake the practices
that cultivate the very essence of who Christ is. As such
there will be times where you may find yourself in a
situation that is difficult to manage, and you will be
tasked with “letting go” of something; be it a person,
place, situation or thing. That something that you must
let go of is most likely viewed as detrimental, toxic or
otherwise not supportive of your purpose in Christ.
There are many factors attached to
why people find it difficult to let
go. One of the most significant ex-
planations relates to the fear of not
being able to control the outcomes
of something. The mere concept of
letting go is sometimes interpreted
as losing or potentially being
judged within a situation that you
no longer have control over.
Oddly, the professed Christian
may even refuse to seek God be-
cause they are determined to not
let go. What you must understand
is holding on to something or
someone interferes with your abil-
ity to move forward which ulti-
mately leads to spiritual stagnation.
Creating a way to let go is very individualized, however
the following are general steps or approaches that are
practical within Christendom to actively practice aiding
in… Letting Go of something.
Step One- Identify- It is important to be able to point
out or write a list of things that are outdated or otherwise
of no effect within your life at this time. Ask yourself
the simple question, what am I currently holding on to
that is unhealthy (for whatever reason) for me?
Step Two- Understand- that the decision to let go must
be placed into operation for it to work. You must realize
that this process is continuous, unpredictable and filled
with discomfort. Explore within yourself what letting go
means to you and what is triggered for you emotionally,
mentally and spiritually.
Step Three- Change- Once you are clear of what
you must let go of and understand what it is going to
entail, then you must change your perspective about
what you are giving up or releasing. Changing your
thoughts, emotions and attitude about what is happen-
ing are powerful means in changing your life.
Step Four-Transfer- transference is an active way of
keeping your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in
check. It is difficult to release yourself from some-
thing that is familiar or that you are accustomed to
having, therefore rechanneling that energy into some-
thing more productive and useful… aides in transfor-
mation.
Step Five -Replenish- the stress that is attached to
holding on to something that you
should let go of tends to deplete
you spiritually, or emotionally.
Therefore, you must replace what
you are losing or have lost with
something positive, fueling or re-
energizing which activates the
process of restoration. The things
that you must let go of is possibly
something that you used, no mat-
ter how dysfunctional, to get by or
survive. Once it’s no longer there,
what protects you?
Step Six- Acceptance- You have
to be okay at some point with
your decision to let go of some-
thing. As such you are accepting the fact that it had to
happen and that’s part of life; it is necessary to move
forward in a progressive manner.
Remember it doesn’t have to feel good, for
it to be good decision. You can do it if you
pray, seek the Lord, meditate and believe.

TIPS ON FOOD SAFETY By Evelyn Bruce, RN, Certified Nurse Practitioner
How to prevent foodborne illness that causes diarrhea, vomiting, and fever? According to
CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 1 in 6 Americans get sick from eating contaminated food annually.
Here are some of the things you can do to keep food safe:
Wash your hands with warm water and soap for 20 to 30 seconds before preparing food and
after handling raw meat, poultry, or seafood and before eating.
Wash all fresh fruits and vegetables with cool water and a vegetable brush before eating,
cutting, or using in food preparation.
Wash the top of canned foods before opening.
Wash all cutting boards with soap and hot water after each use.
Use hot water to wash dishes
When shopping you want to put meat, poultry, and dairy products in the grocery cart
last; Place in plastic bags to prevent juices from dripping onto other foods. Once you
get home, place in refrigerator or freezer as soon as possible.
Use different cutting boards for cooked and raw foods.
Cook meat thoroughly.
Keep the refrigerator cold.
Keep cooked foods hot until they are served
After each use, clean your kitchen counters thoroughly with bleach or soap and hot
water.
Here are some of the things you want to avoid to keep food safe:
Do not use the following foods without cooking thoroughly (eggs, fish, shellfish, meat,
or steak, unpasteurized milk or cheese).
Do not serve cooked meats or poultry on the same plate with raw meat or poultry.
Do not leave cook food out for more than 2 hours and one hour in hot weather; always
refrigerate leftovers.
Do not use food after the expiration date on the label.
Do not use canned foods if dented, bulging, or leaking.
Do not eat anything you think might be rotten, moldy, or spoiled. If in doubt, throw it
away.
