H MACHINE DESIGN :

Elecon Apron Feeders are of extremely ruggedconstruction and are specifically designed to withstandthe shock loading of large lumps beings dumped in thehopper above the feeder. These machines can also beemployed for drawing material from hoppers and deliveringit at controlled rates to succeeding belt conveyors. ApronFeeders have a considerable effect on the efficiency ofcrushing operations as they ensure that the feed isintroduced to the crusher over the full length of the crushingcavity at a steady and controlled rate.

H BEARINGS :

Heavy-duty spherical roller type bearings support the headand tail shafts, mounted in pedestals. Those for supportingthe head shaft are bolted to the main longitudinal memberswhile those for supporting the tail shaft are mounted inslides, permitting adjustment of the sprocket centres totakeup chain stack.

H SPROCKETS :

Segmental, cast steel sprockets are cachined and jigdrilled to fit their respective mounting hubs which arekeyed to the drive shaft.

H CHAIN AND CARRYING ROLLERS :

Chains of the type used for tractors are fitted, having forgedsteel links and high-carbon steel pins capable of operatingunder the most arduous conditions, without the need forlubrication. Steel support rollers fitted with greaselubricated bearing bushes are provided beneath the chains.Mn Cast Steel Chains can also be provided upon request.

H APRON PLATES :

Apron feeder pans are designed to suit specificrequirements, considering duty factors and type ofmaterial. Pans are ribbed for strength and have flangedends. Sufficient overlap is porvided restricting spillage atthe moment when passing around the sprocket. Panscan be supplied either in cast manganese steel or pressedmild steel or of welded plate construction, to suit thenature material to be handled.

H SKIDDER BAR :

A skidder bar is provided centrally between the chains, beneath the apron where the shock loads occur. Theskidder bar is not normally in contact with the apronand is merely to prevent distortion of the apron plates.

H RETURN ROLLERS :

Rollers are provided to support the slack side of themoving apron to relieve the radial load on the headand tail shaft bearings.

H LUBRICATION :

A hand-operated twin-line or centrally motorisedlubrication system is incorporated in the design of themachine to ensure regular service at all grease points.Ready access is available to all parts for maintanancepurpose.

H DRIVE :

The necessity to vary the speed of the moving apronis found to be a useful feature, to ensure control overthe capacities. The final drive to the shaft can thereforebe supplied with a DC motor, or hydraulic motor, orother variable speed control systems.

H DRIBBLE CONVEYOR :

Elecon Apron Feeders also incorporate a dribbleconveyor, under the return strand of the apron feeder. The dribble conveyor picks up dust and fines droppingfrom the return strand, thus eliminating manual cleaningand saving considerable man-hours. Dribbleconveyors are either belt type or drag chain, with anindependent drive. Material collected by the dribbleconveyor is discharged back into the main stream.
