PROTEIN SKIMMERSFor Recirculated Aquaculture Systems (RAS)

MAT PS units, optionally, arrive with sludge Auto Wash System, allowing the outer cap to be rinsed with fresh water and the inner neck rinsed with system water minimizing the loss of water. MAT PS units may be manufactured upon request to operate with fresh water. MAT PS come with a pre-fitted IP67 electrical switch board in line with the most stringent safety regulations. All components and materials are rated to operate under high salinity & humidity condensed environments.

MAT PS units competitive advantage is the quality of fabrication & ease of operation. PS units carry MAT’s uniquely engineered Venturi, infusing the correctly balanced amount of Oxygen and Ozone inside to the PS body, achieving maximum saturation of Ozone in the treated water. Furthermore, the PS’s internal design is made in such a way as to create & retain the finest air bubbles up to the skimmer cup. This process results in maximum performance, producing a bio/ protein waste that is significantly thicker than industry standard. MAT PS units are not “ temperamental” in their operat ion; therefore, there is no need for constant fine adjustment once the PS is commissioned.

MAT PROTEIN SKIMMERS (PS) have been designed after many years of testing on high bioload water conditions at our research faci l ity. Designed to provide quality performance, ease of operation & robust fabrication. MAT PS units manufactured in-house in polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic, by SIMONA A.G. MAT PS come in a variety of standard sizes and can be customized to suit any facility size and flow parameters.

MAT Protein Skimmers are core elements in the Recirculated Aquaculture Systems, and are complementary to pressurized sand filters, paper filters, algae scrappers, moving bed filters, cartridge filters, drum filters and trickle filters.

MAT Protein Skimmer operation is based on the centrifugal mechanical removal of organic compounds. MAT PS operation is optimized through ozonated air which is injected into the treated water, as a stream of fine bubbles, by a low-pressure venturi set. As the bubbles rise up through the water column, proteins and other surface-active compounds are attracted to each other. The organic coat/ bio sludge is clogged in fine bubbles as they rise up through the water

column. This foam is rejected from the protein skimmer through the effluent pipe and is discharged to the sewer or the backwash treatment. An important secondary effect of protein skimming is the removal of fine particulate material (<40 micron) that attaches to the foam.

OZONE GENERATORSEffective Operation With a Corrosion Resistent Design

MAT OZONE GENERATORS are designed & manufactured in-house to provide stable and actual ozone del ivery in h igh humidity environments. MAT Ozone Generators are sensitive electrical equipment fabricated specifically for aquarium and aquaculture filtration room conditions. MAT Ozone units cover a wide variety of high quality Ozone Production needs, starting from 5g/h up to 100g/h. MAT Ozone generators maximize the efficiency of the water treatment process when paired with one of the MAT integrated Compact System components, or used as a stand-alone disinfection system. MAT Ozone Generators are designed for stable use, low power consumption, minimized footprint and operation in saline and humid ambient conditions. Fitted with regenerative air dryers, MAT Ozone generators provide efficient dry air supply.

MAT OZONE GENERATORS offer the solution for an effective, safe & natural disinfection process. Ozone is a dangerous and unstable gas and must be produced & distributed under strict operations conditions. MAT has the technology and expertise to design safe ozone systems to deliver the actual ozone specified output.

DESCRIPTION

APPLICATION

MAT OZONE GENERATORS are applicable to Recirculate Aquaculture Systems.

OPERATION & ENGINEERING

MAT OZONE GENERATORS utilize one low energy consumption air dryer, to supply dry air to the Oxygen Concentrators. The dried air is supplied to the Oxygen Concentrators by an oil free compressor. These Oxygen Concentrators work on the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) principle, leading to a high purity ~93%, discriminated from air Oxygen, which is ready for the final process step through the Ceramic Corona Cell. The process inside to the Ceramic Corona Cell involves a powerful electric discharge that splits Oxygen molecule to atoms, which for stability reasons, they are attached to other intact Oxygen molecules forming Ozone. All the components of the MAT ozone generators are repairable.

PRESSURIZED MEDIA FILTERImproved Performance Over Sand Filters

MAT Pressurized Media Filters are rapid, pressurized multilayer filters filled in with Activated Glass Filter Media instead of sand to double the process performance. The PMF media offers 300 times more surface area than the sand media, is electrostatically charged in order to absorb organic substances and small particles and finally the metal oxide catalysts located on its surface make the PMF self-sterilizing, as well. The developed filtration speed varies between 20-25m/h at pressure rate of 3 or 4.5 bar. The specific filter configuration offers extra resistance to bio-fouling, to bio-coagulation and does not permit any unfiltered water to escape due to transient wormhole water channeling.

The wastewater is dispersed evenly over the Activated Filter Media by diffusers which are located on the upper part of the vessel. As the water permeates down through the media

MAT PMF are applicable to Aquaculture Facilities and to Recirculated Aquaculture Systems.

OPERATION & ENGINEERING

MAT PMF present the solution for optimal and total water fi ltration at lower power consumption rates when compared to traditional sand filters. The media used allow ease of operation and although a higher initial investment, the ROI is fast.

MAT PMF may be backwashed by reversing the water delivery to flow from the lower to the higher media layers collecting and discharging the deposited particulate matter to the effluent waste line. The MAT PMF vessels are made from Bobbin Wound FRP or laminated FRP vessels, venilester coated offering optimum ozone osmosis protection, pneumatic or motor actuated manifold, manometers and air pressure relief valves.

APPLICATION

More than doubled performance over a conventional sand filtration system

Higher effective filtration surface than sand

Presents Biodynamic Stability

Does not permit untreated water escape

Around 50% lower backwash water need

PMF is a Self-Sterilizing Media

MAT MOVING BED BIO REACTORS are biological filters, designed to efficiently enable the organic load degradation, either as a part of a Recirculated Aquaculture System. The MAT MBBR biotower, is made of Polypropylene, robust to withstand harsh operation conditions. The MAT MBBR range covers the treatment needs for Biomass load from 31 up to 850kgs per bio-tower, utilizing low water volume and small footprint. The non-treated water stream is continuously mixed with air in the MAT MBBR, while the organic load is degraded biologically by microorganisms. This bio-film layer is formed on and in suspended polyethylene media.

MAT provides optimal pure PE biological media types between 1000m2/m3 and 4850 m2/m3 specific surface area.

DESCRIPTION

MAT Moving Bed Bio Reactor is an advanced and complete solution for Total Ammonia Nitrogen Removal for high biomas/feeding rate of aquaculture applications.

APPLICATION

MAT Moving Bed Bio Reactor receives the overflowed and loaded with organic pollutants from service facilities water, at its vessel base, leading it subsequently upwards through the moving filter bed, to be discharged on the top and inside to the reactor vessel.

OPERATION & ENGINEERING

The polyethylene bio-balls surface is used for the moving bed biofilm layer of the micro-organisms growth and activity. The micro-organisms biofilm activity conversion of the organic load to NO3 is enhanced by continuous air injection into the moving bed volume. MAT special design has optimized the air mixing process through high pressure air injection and fine air bubble subsequent formulation.

MAT TRICKLE FILTERS are applicable to Recirculated Aquaculture Systems.

DESCRIPTION

MAT TRICKLE FILTERS are fixed-bed, aerated, biological filters designed to convert the tox ic , n i t rogen waste found in Aquaculture Facilities water to non-toxic and easily removable by products. MAT Trickle Filters use an air blower to reinforce the presence of Oxygen inside the bio-tower. The use of Polyethylene (PE) bio balls provides the maximum surface area, not only for the micro-organisms activity but also for the gaseous exchange process restoring the levels of CO2 and O2 to required values. MAT TRICKLE FILTERS range covers the TAN (Total Ammonia Nitrogen) Removal Rate needs from 30 gr TAN/day up to 1800 gr TAN/day and from 42kg up to 2600kg, of Max Biomass at 2% feeding ratio, per bio-tower.

OPERATION & ENGINEERING

MAT TRICKLE FILTER bio-tower, receives pre-filtered aquaculture wastewater and it trickles it through aerated solid media (PE bioballs). The media surface offers the layer onto which a biomass of suitable microorganisms is being attached and growing. These are the bacteria that remove the ammonia from the wastewater through chemical reactions in the presence of Oxygen reinforced by an air blower. The released energy is necessary for the bacteria growth and as well, the required amount of Oxygen represents the measure of the TAN load to be removed. MAT design team has paid special attention for the TRICKLE FILTERS to maintain the conditions for maximum microorganism population growth and dead zone elimination. MAT TRICKLE FILTERS are the solution for high TAN Load Removal, by maximizing the wastewater trickling surface, providing uniform mixing of wastewater & air and by infusing high Oxygen concentrations into the process.

UV DISINFECTION SYSTEMImproved wet dry filtration

MAT UV Disinfection devices are applicable to Aquaculture Facilities, and Recirculated Aquaculture Systems

MAT UV DISINFECTION SYSTEM is a sterilizing device for wastewater treatment, where the Ultra Violet radiation targets directly to ‘microorganisms’ genetic material (DNA & RNA) destruction. The comparative advantage of the UV disinfection system over various chemical disinfection methods is the maintained and unaffected physical and chemical composition of water after the UV radiation activity. The UV is effective against any type of microorganism such as algae, bacteria, virus, fungi, yeasts, etc.

DESCRIPTION

APPLICATION

MAT UV Disinfection devices is the solution for total water sterilization.

Pre-filtered water flows into the UV Disinfection device, where Ultraviolet Radiation is emitted to destroy the genetic material of the microorganisms contained in the water. Moreover, the MAT medium pressure UV lamps, are capable of multi-frequency emission, resulting in chloramines elimination through a photochemical reaction. The combined chlorine is reduced up to more than 50%. MAT UV sterilizers are made by HDPE plastic to guarantee high resistance to aggressive water, sea water & thermal water. They have multiple advantages over chemical disinfection systems since UV radiation does not alter the physical & chemical composition of water. UV sterilization is effective against all types of algae, bacteria, virus, fungi, yeasts, etc. Commonly used for the disinfection of water for human consumption, UV systems eliminate chloramines through a photochemical action, reducing the combined chlorine up to more than 50%. MAT UV systems come with control panel to monitor the operation and effectiveness of the UV lamps.
