Scottish Government PolicyThe Purpose:

“to focus the Government and public services on creating a more successful country, with opportunities for all of Scotland to flourish, through increasing sustainable economic growth.”

“By sustainable economic growth we mean building a dynamic and growing economy that will provide prosperity and opportunities for all, while ensuring that future generations can enjoy a better quality of life too.”

• The Purpose is being delivered through the Government Economic Strategy

- the overarching strategy for all of Government and the public sector.

• Delivery of the Purpose requires the development of a country that engenders individual and collective success. This is encapsulated in a set of five Strategic Objectives which map a Scotland that is wealthier and fairer, smarter, healthier, safer and stronger, and greener.

• Activity to achieve the Purpose is supported by the National Performance Framework to underpin delivery against the Government's agenda.

• It was developed to support the delivery of the towards the Purpose, and contains national outcomes and indicators.

• There are 15 national outcomes but here are a few of relevance:

– We realise our full economic potential with more and better employment opportunities for our people.

– We value and enjoy our built and natural environment and protect it and enhance it for future generations.
