Architecture of Ampel Mosque
The Ampel mosque uses Javanese architecture rather than Arabic architecture even though it is in the Arabic Quarter. • Unlike other mosques in middle east and eastern
Europe, Ampel mosque doesn’t have any dome. Instead, they have 3 level roof, which is traditional Javanese roof called Joglo.
• The mosque have 16 wooden pillars inside with the calligraphy of Ayat Kursi on it.
• The minaret is used to pray the Adzan.• The bedug is a large drum used to call for the prayer.
