Business Plan for Biopolymer Industrial Park
Client Confidential : National Government Agency
As the first stage we created a vision, business
strategy and master plan for this Biopolymer
industrial park in South East Asia. Drawing on
the infrastructure created by the adjacent
refinery and the local bio-feedstock, we
developed a plan for sustainable development
We are now creating the detailed
implementation plan for the park, including the
physical plan for the facilities; infrastructure,
buildings, supply chain, transport etc
Key to the viability has been the identification
of, and engagement with potential investors,
operators and customers.

Oil & Gas Supply Base
Client Confidential : Private Oil & Gas Logistics company
Initially, we conducted a feasibility study to
identify the potential market and optimal
business strategy for a new oil & gas supply
base in South East Asia.
This was used to gain approval from regional
government and to secure initial funding.
We then created the detailed implementation
plan for the Base, including the physical plan for
the facilities; infrastructure, buildings, supply
chain, transport etc
Key to the viability has been the identification
of, and engagement with potential investors,
operators and customers.

Cost ManagementMega LNG Project, Australia
Across Asia today Arcadis is currently providing cost
management solutions for a number of IOCs on multi-billion
contracts in both the upstream and downstream sectors. We
have an outstanding track record in helping Oil & Gas clients to
accurately scope, manage and reduce costs on their most
important capital projects.
$20bn LNG project, Australia
Arcadis was appointed to provide cost management services on a multi-
billion LNG project. The scheme included the construction of one of the
largest offshore facilities in the industry, a state-of-the-art onshore
processing facility and a huge pipeline uniting both assets.
By carrying out a thorough review of EPC costs and claims, including
module fabricator measurements and star rates, and benchmarking
these against our industry-leading cost rates data, we were able to
reduce the client’s total CAPEX spend by over USD 1bn over a five-year
period.

Enabling Works
The Challenge
Implementing a Project at a hard-to-
reach region - right bank of the
Amazon River, west region of Pará -
of highly-complex logistics (access
exclusively by boat), comprised of
three different facilities implemented
simultaneously, while ensuring
compliance with the Project’s
established deadline and budget
targets.
The average traveling time from the
jobsite to the main city (Santarem) is
15 to 20 hours by means of boats of
small capacity and with high load
restraint.
The Project
Implementing a Bauxite Industrial Complex,
comprised of:
• Mine
• Processing plant: 2.6 Mtpy
• Port: berthing for up to 75,000 DWT capacity
ships
• Logistics infrastructure: a 37 mile (60 km)
railway and a 33 mile (54 km) road
• Ore handling: Car Dumper and Ore, Piling,
Stocking, Reclaiming and Conveying Systems
• Power Generation: Two 16 MVA diesel Power
Stations
• Industrial and Administrative Supporting
Facilities
Major figures• Earthworks: 14 million m³
• Concrete: 124,000 m³
• Structures: 7,600 m³
• Manpower at peak of works: 8,000 people
• 45 million man-hours worked
• Equipment: 6,600 t
• Pipeline: 2,800 t
• Cabling: 1,170 km

Remediation of Oil Storage
Facility
Confidential Client
Imagine
Fixed price remediation of the 440-acre site
required on-site remediation of petroleum-
impacted soil to facilitate redevelopment of
the property to sell.
Approach
ARCADIS remediated the site via biological
treatment, including the construction of an
innovative 7-acre on-site bioreactor for the
biological treatment of soils, free-product
remediation, groundwater remediation,
including the remediation of more than five
miles of storm-water pipes and
appurtenances.
Result
ARCADIS completed the free-product
remediation approximately 2 years ahead of
schedule, gaining substantial regulatory and
client satisfaction with the remediation. The
timely remediation allowed the client to sell
the property for redevelopment.© ARCADIS24 June 201633

Restoration Project
Chevron
Imagine
The wetland restoration project was
completed as compensation for natural
resource damages caused by past releases
at the Former Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur,
Texas.
Approach
ARCADIS was the engineer and general
contractor for the construction of
approximately 119 acres of wetlands,
including approximately 32 acres of coastal
prairie and 87 acres of emergent estuarine
marsh.
Result
Within months of project completion, native
wildlife, such as alligators and nesting ducks,
had once again made the marsh their home
as well as creating new recreational
opportunities for local sportsmen.
