The shaft was made from one of my employees, Bernhard Schöbl, from cow-leather, hand sewed and fi nally decorated with goat-leather. It was a big challenge to not show the sew. The engraved button made in silver is a connection with the leather. The design of the button was made to match the hand protection of the knife

The fi nal knife is as well a piece of art and a useful tool for generations to come.

The blade and the hand protection and grip are safely screwed together and glued. The end-piece needed some extra construction to be then glued safely to the grip. The grip widens in the middle to insure a safe handling of the knife.

“Desert-Iron-Wood” is a tree that is found in Arizona, USA, which grows in the desert very slowly and often is covered by sand for a long time. After wind activity it sometimes appears and is then collected and worked on. This extremely hard wood does not act any more and is special because of its wood drain and structure.

The knife conclusion is fi xed with the strut. The engravings of Nadine Kierok were made after classical oriental style. The scabbard was made of cowhide by my employee Bernhard Schöbl. It was sewn exclusively by hand and then covered with goatskin. The biggest task thereby was that the seam was not allowed to be visible. The engraved push button made of silver also establish a relationship to the knife. The form of the push button is derived from the hand protection. The conclusion of the dagger is adorned with a deep red spinel.

This dagger represents by its elegance, the craftsmanship very sophisticated manufacturing and materials used a property for many generations.

As a conclusion, a peridot was enclosed in a light olive green. The scabbard was a challenge for my employee Bernhard Schöbl. The lightweight pulling and still reliable fi xing of the knife hit the limits of feasibility, but was mastered and fulfi lled its purpose both visually and practically. Everything has been carefully covered with goatskin.

The jackknife is not only a work of art but also an object with novel constructions and technical sophistication.

These forged roses can be very well seen at the blade.

The highlight of the folding knife is the especially developed frame structure by myself. The frame, the jaws in the front and back, as well as the intermediate chocks are cast from massive 925 sterling silver. The challenge thereby was that the fi ttings for the plates still vote after casting, since the cast always occur tensions and there is loss in the percent range.
