If the architect only draws plans, he is not obliged to go on the planet, he could stay at home to work. He uses pens to realise his plans but he could also do that on a computer with a modealisation software.
He has got a flexible schedule until he does his work. But he has to be available, if the builders on the planet need his help.
He also has to communicate with the scientific community in order to be sure that his plans are doable. So he has to meet them at least once a week.

The most interesting day at school it is a day which is devoted to pratice works in the morning : > drawing plan for a new building
> make scientist experience to demonstrate quality of the material in extreme conditions.
And the afternoon was devoted to the meeting of scientists in order to talk about the new industry discoveries : materials, technology; see the laboratory work.
As a result, the student would develop a network, to shape an opinion about real facts and better understand the scientist problem
