The concept of the project derives from the caterpillar insect studies with intense focus on the move-ment and textures. Caterpillars center lifting the entire middle potion into an arch, pushes its front forward and drags the rest along. Each body portion is segregating allowing this fascinating manner of movement to happen. The project also segregated into three parts to mimic this flow: dance studio, admission and perfor-mance space. Each program gets its own wall system that is inspired by the caterpillars many different textures. Each program or sphere is separate but unify in such a manner that always creates part to whole identity and always a clear circulation. Spheres that are lifted off the ground allow for circulation into the building on the second floor and create space for a spiral staircase to lead up to the remaining floors. While the first floor creates more private entry ways to offices and private dance studios.

"The column-like structure in a meshwork is no longer a column as in a classical model, but a specific behavior and effect of the tension rods which become both ornament and structure." Reiser + Umemoto

This speculative sound installation project for the Hyde Park art center was conceived as a structural framework that creates a linear flow through the art gallery, facilitating an alternative climb from the lower level to the upper galleries. In order to create a continuous flow though the entire space, the multiples trusses are evenly distributed though-out from one wall to the other. Avoiding the traditional distinction between primary and secondary structural members, each truss is made of three scaled down versions of the same curve member, further rotated to meet the next truss over. The structure is created entirely by bent steel tubing. Music performances can happen informally within any given section of the project.

This project introduces a series of boxes that stack together to create visual and programmatic con-nections. Each Box holds its own extreme sport and is designed specifically for the extreme conditions needed. This design truly becomes a adventure, where people get to dine in a rainforest, sleep in a tree or rock climb their wait into their bedroom. An overhang is created in two facades for additional outdoor space. This area is specifically designed in order to meet the sport incorporated requirements. While the outer facade is kept even the inner facade shifts the boxes inward to create more outdoor leisure space. The Project placed in the Nevada desert gives the users the opportunity to experience these extreme conditions that would not be possible otherwise.

This design proposes a new 24/7 365 Navy Pier. To create this type of active atmosphere, a study was conducted to analyze the programs that are currently pulling Chicago residents away from the city and were therefore incorporated into the design. By adding in these programs Navy Pier doubles it occupants at all times of the day and all year round. The circulation of the pier interconnects the interior and exte-rior activities and forces its occupant through the whole pier. Based on Chicago demographics, families were the main occupants today. In order to maintain the interest of Chicago families and capture the interest of others. This Navy piers intention is to separate the adult users from the families and only cre-ates certain indirect connections between the two zones.

The W@H Lofts are lofts created specifically for individuals who work from home and eliminate any commuting during the week by adding any programs required daily. The building is a series of C shaped boxes that are stacked and then shifted based on site conditions and toward the most incredible views of Chicago. The lofts often below, adjacent or intertwined to owners office. This arrangement of space is ideal for artists, small business owners, stock brokers, etc.
