Data Summary 2005 There were 50 cases in 2005, same as in 2004 and 46 in 2003. Of these: 72% were natural causes 7 of these were Hospice Cases 18% by accidental means 40% MVA 30% Overdoses 2 Avalanches, 1 while skiing 2 Skier deaths (one caught in avalanche) 8% suicide 50% Male, 50% Female 1 drowning, 1 MVA, 1 ligature, one GSW 2% undetermined No Homicides No Motor Vehicle Accidents Deaths involving alcohol or drugs. Deaths where drugs were present: 3 THC 1 Cocaine 1 Methadone 1 Benzodiazapines 4 Alcohol 26% of deaths had autopsies since the majority of our deaths were natural with pre-existing medical conditions. 78% of deaths were male with 50-59 age range being the majority. 55% deaths were in unincorporated county (Sheriff’s Office) 15% of deaths were in Breckenridge (Breck PD) 10% of deaths were covered by State Patrol (CSP) 8% of deaths were in Silverthorne (Svthn PD) 4% of deaths were in Dillon (Dillon PD) 4% of deaths were in Frisco (Frisco PD) 2 bodies were recovered by Search and Rescue Only 1 death occurred during a full moon The most frequent hours of day dispatched are between 11a-1p and 90-11p Most frequent days of week dispatched: Sat 10, Sun 9 Mon 8 Thurs 8 1.

Welcome to the Annual Report for 2005. I hope that these numbers assist you in understanding the death demographics for Summit County.
