    LIFE GROUP NOTES

FOR STARTERS: In what do you place your identity?

QUICK REVIEW: This week Pastor Will continued our series, “Your Story About Jesus: Priceless,” going through the Gospel of John. He preached from John 1:19-28 on “John’s Second Story.” The bottom line was that living your true identity is your answer. That answer took the form of five elements of your God given identity and destiny. You were born to be (1) a minister, (2) a voice for Jesus, (3) a baptizer, (4) humble, and (5) honorable.

    DIGGING DEEPER:

    1. Read John 1:19-22 and answer the following questions.

    A. Have you ever been questioned in this way, especially in regard to your faith?

    B. Reviewing John 1:6-7, what was the answer to these questions. Who was John the Baptist?

    C. How have you exercised the calling of all Christians to be ministers?

    2. Read John 1:23 and answer the following questions.

    A. Read Isaiah 40:1-8 and compare it to this verse. How would John the Baptist’s audience have understood what he said?

    B. Are you a voice preparing the way for the Lord’s return?

    3. Read John 1:24-26 and answer the following questions.

    A. What does the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 say about the importance of baptism?
