4. Begin recruiting and plan your first meeting! Download flyers to hang, put information

about meetings in the announcements, talk with your classes and other teachers, counselors and administrators about providing you with names of students who might share the qualities of exceptional teachers or who have shown interest in working in education, and reach out to them! https://educatorsrisingnm.nmsu.edu/starting-a-chapter/chapter-resources/

5. Follow Educators Rising NM on social media. There are many great resources and a large

network of teachers who can provide guidance, support and fun ideas to try with your chapter or class!

6. Identify your local resources. What neighboring elementary schools or middle/high schools would be willing to partner with you and your students to provide them with opportunities to experience the profession firsthand? Who might be willing to serve as a guest speaker for your class or meeting?

7. What’s in it for me? Leadership without leaving the classroom, professional development

and teaching opportunities, networking with teachers from across the state, experience and opportunities that aligns with Domain 4: Professionalism, and helping to shape the next generation of teachers!
