Carey Hope Lamprecht …

… is a certified paralegal who lives and works in San Francisco, California. She has been volunteering the NLG since 2001, primarily with the Demonstrations Committee.

She works as a litigation assistant at the ACLU of Northern California. Previously, she worked in a small civil law firm and freelanced as a paralegal, specializing in both criminal defense and civil rights.

Carey was honored by the Bay Area NLG as the Unsung Hero of 2013. Her background includes mental health advocacy and she plays professionally as a violinist.

Bacilio Mendez II …

… talks too much, but will try not to when moderating today’s panel because Carey and Tova are way smarter.

Besides, it is rumored that Bacilio is basically just a hologram, projected by a born digital program, designed to be the prototypical technical services law librarian.

He went to Oberlin (for dance), then Pratt (for library school), and he now lives, loves, and codes in NYC. Oh and he is the NLG’s 2013 Legal Worker of the Year.

Google him—he’s not all that interesting; your time would be better spent by checking out ACTUPNY.com.

… is the Founder and Principal at Engine of Progress.

From 2006 to 2012, she served as Executive Director of the NLG affiliated Sugar Law Center for Economic and Social Justice.

A Harvard graduate, Tova earned master’s degrees at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Michigan, and conducted doctoral research on ethnic and racial politics in American cities.

She is passionate about grassroots fundraising as a vital form of fundamental movement organizing.

Put Pen To PaperWe love you all, but Guild members can be long winded and we are limited in time, so we are not having an open mic. Instead, please put your brilliantly crafted, legible, and succinct questions on an index card and pass them to the front. Apologies, in advance if not all are answered.
