Work ExperienceThe Pickle Barrel Server/Hostess; Vaughan
The Pickle Barrel is a fast-paced, family oriented restaurant with a large menu. After four months of working as a hostess, I was offered a promotion to become a server. Some of the key traits in the restaurant industry are customer service, time man-agement, effective commu-nication, and initiative, as well as cleanliness, orga-nization, and responsibility.
December 2013 to Present
As a design studio host-ess, I was the initial point of contact with the guests, as I greeted new home own-ers in a welcoming manner. I provided buyers with a tour of the design studio, while explaining the “standards” and “upgrades” in their home. Other administrative duties were also performed at Countrywide Homes.

At Bench, I was recog-nized as one of the top sellers in the store. I need-ed to meet and exceed daily, weekly, and month-ly sales goals assigned by management. Customer service and communica-tion skills were also keys to success in this business.

Canada’s WonderlandGames Assistant Supervisor; VaughanAfter one season of ex-celling in my position as a games sales associ-ate, I was promoted to the youngest assistant supervi-sor. Some of the customer service highlights include answering questions and resolving guest issues. I was responsible for fulfilling finan-cial goals, and managing cash handling operations. In the designated area, I was also responsible for motivating, managing, and training a team of 14 em-ployees to meet financial goals. I managed cost of sales, controlled expens-es, and tracked inventory to reduce business costs.

MUSIKHAUS Centre for Sound Arts provides the community of Cambridge with a space for experiencing, creating, and learning about music. The pro-posed programming of this project connects the classical foundations of mu-sic with the more contemporary sounds of today. This connection is echoed in the architecture of the space through the modern intervention of this historic building along the rivers edge.

MUSIKLEBEN Artist’s Resi-dence, located on the third floor of MUSIKHAUS provides the performing musicians with a comfortable and unique liv-ing experience. The main living area is open concept, encour-aging collaborative music op-portunities. Re-enforcing this concept is the open/closed bedroom concept that allows the musicians to open their pri-vate space so that everyone can work together. Within the central space are three “Musik Boxes”, located at three differ-ent heights within the main liv-ing space, allowing a private, but collaborative space for the musicians to practice.

UNITY is a dog store that pro-vides the community of Hes-peler with a space that unites dogs with their owners, while uniting the dog-lover commu-nity of Hespeler. The program-ming that has been proposed for this site allows dogs and their owners to spend time to-gether at the training centre, shopping for toys or treats, or on a community dog walk. The unique proposal is spaciously designed in order for the dogs to easily roam around the store, while still allowing the owners some time to relax at the cafe.
