President’s Welcome Letter

Dear Friends:Welcome to the Arkansas Municipal League’s 2020 Winter Conference. As you review your program, you will see the outstanding agenda Mark R. Hayes and the League staff have organized. We begin the conference at 3 p.m. Wednesday with a certification session cov-ering issues regarding medical marijuana in the municipal workplace. During that evening’s opening night banquet, we’ll recognize the city and town officials who in the past year have achieved or maintained their status as a Certified Municipal Official. Main Street Arkansas will present their Excellence in Downtown Revitalization Awards as well. Thursday brings a full day of general sessions featuring excellent speakers covering a variety of issues facing our cities and towns. During the opening general session, we’re honored to welcome speaker Leon T. Andrews Jr., who will share information about the National League of Cities’ Race, Equity and Leadership (REAL) initiative. We will also rec-ognize winners of this year’s Trendsetter City Awards, and the Volunteer Communities of the Year will be honored during Thursday’s luncheon. Our host cities, Little Rock and North Little Rock, are excited to welcome us to the Winter Conference. Be sure to take advantage of the wonderful restaurants, shops and attractions each city has to offer during your visit.
