We have been working diligently this Fall to build our community and have big plans for the Spring semester. Weve hosted meengs on campus to foster dia- logue among members related to the CSG disciplines, the world stage, and the lives of our members more generally. We are also acvely organizing events for the Spring, including a prison tour and a Spring picnic where faculty and mem- bers can get to know each other beer outside of the classroom. We will also be planning fundraisers and geng T-shirts. So, come out and help build our com- munity by joining us at our next event!     The CSG Club is up and running at full force! The major goal of this semester has been to foster a community of CSG majors, minors, and interested students to serve as the lifeblood of the department. The core of the club consists of the new CSG club officers who have been elected to administer the club in all its capacities. Our membership is strong with over 100 students on our email list! We have been working diligently this Fall to build our community and have big plans for the Spring semester. We’ve hosted meetings on campus to foster dia-logue among members related to the CSG disciplines, the world stage, and the lives of our members more generally.     Rebekah (Becky) Vickery joined the CSG

    Department in November as Administra-

    tive Specialist.

    She was born and raised in Jonesboro and attended Nettleton High School. She served in the Army from 1988-91.

    Her son, Adam, is a Fall 2018 A-State graduate.

    Her favorite hobby is gardening.

  • Learn More About Alpha Kappa Delta

    Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of Undergraduate and Graduate students of Criminal Justice, as well as Juris Doctorate students. The goals of Alpha Phi Sigma are to honor and promote academic excellence, community service, educational leadership, and unity. Alpha Phi Sigma is the only Criminal Justice Honor Society which is a certified member of the Association of College Honor Societies and affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Dr. Joseph Rukus is the Faculty advisor for the Alpha Phi Sigma chapter at Arkansas State University.

    Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the International Sociology Honor Society. The Mission Statement: Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote ex-cellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual ac-tivities as will lead to improve-ment in the human condition. The purpose of Alpha Kappa Delta is to seek to acknowledge and promote excellence in the scholarship in the study of soci-ology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the hu-man condition. Alpha Kappa Delta is a non-secret, democratic, international society of scholars dedicated to the ideal of Athropon

    Katamannthanein Diakonesin or "to investigate humanity for the purpose of service." Membership is open to under-graduate students, graduate stu-dents, and faculty members from active chapters who meet the minimum standards. Currently, there are more than 120,000 members in Alpha Kappa Delta and over 660 chapters. Dr. Steven Panageotou is the Faculty sponsor for the Alpha Kappa Delta Chapter at Arkan-sas State University. The Beta Chapter of Alpha Kap-pa Delta, here at A-State, spon-sors many activities for students, such as faculty/student celebra-tions, the annual research sym-posium, and various other scho-lastic activities.
