TechnologyHow it has changed our lives
By Juliet and Arlia
Life Before Technology
• No computers and electronic devices eg.Your beloved play stations, nintendo ds and televisions
• Not as much medical equipment and medicines so many people who got sick, died from their illness
• Surgery is far more sophisticated with key-hole surgery
• No telephones, email or faxing. The only way people could communicate was face to face, telegraph or writing letters. Do you think that this might have been better?
Our Survey
We interviewed 10 people on their points of view of technology
We asked them:1) Could you live without electricity?2) Would it be a good idea to combine modern and old
technology to create an eco-friendly solution?3) Do you think we should stop using up our fossil fuels?4) Do you try to recycle as often as possible or can’t you
be bothered?5) Do you do much to help us reduce our eniromental
impact as humans?

Positive or Negative• Has technology made a
positive or negative effect on our school learning?
• Sure there are new laptops and computers, but the information is not always accurate. Most relevant information we download can be found in a book. How many hours can you spend scanning the internet?
• Laptops in our schools are useful tools, but are they crucial to our learning?
Are we relying on technology too much?
• If one of our major phone companies crashed (as Telecom recently experienced) and you urgently needed to get a message to somebody, what would you do?
• You have done your homework on your computer, you email it to your teacher, you arrive at school and discover it hasn’t ‘sent’. You have deleted it from your home computer and now get into a lot of trouble for not having homework to present.
How do you feel? Could this have been prevented by working with pen and paper? How many times have you had a similar
problem?
How technology changed the way society lived, and is that same
technology still impacting on society?

The Industrial Revolution
The wheel was one of the most important inventions. It allowed us to travel, to communicate and to make modern inventions-all those things that you see moving in your environment includingturbines, the water wheel, flour for bread and clocks to tell the timeWould we have computers today if the wheel had not been invented? What do you think?
Our Solution!
From our studies we established that technology has dominated developed
countries. However, if we were to combine technology from the early 1900s and modern
technology then we could create an eco-friendly solution.
Our Invention
• This slide keeps deleting and we don’t know why!!??
• So we have a hard copy of our invention for you to see!
Our Conclusion! • Technology is wonderful as in many ways it
simplifies everyday routine jobs (e.g home and workplace)
However• The way people are currently using it is not
efficient. We waste too many materials because we tend to be reckless, believing that it is alright to replace products
• Maybe we should be thinking about how we could best use the knowledge of the past and combine it with the science and materials available.

• The people we interviewed, you know who you are!!
• And YOU, for watching this!!!!!!!
