Key outcomes• Inform Maneuver Functional Concepts• Inform Maneuver Capability Requirements• Inform BCT and SFAB O&O• Inform CFTs’ Technology Concept & Capability Development• Inform Joint/Army S&T Priorities, Investment, and

Development• Inform DOTMLPF Decisions in BCT and Small Unit

Modernization• Inform Future Force Decisions (JCID milestone, AROC,

AoAs, BOIPs)• Conduct Program of Record Risk Reduction Assessments• Conduct Industry Partnership to Influence R&D Investment• Conduct Interoperability Assessments with Partner Nations

Purpose: AEWE is the Army’s primary venue for experimentation focusing at the small unit level. AEWE supports small unit modernization by providing Cross Function Teams (CFT), Centers of Excellence (CoE) capability developers, Science and Technology (S&T) community, and industry a repeatable, credible, rigorous, and TRADOC G2 validated operational experiment supporting both concept and materiel development.

Characteristics of Participation

AEWE 2021

• There is no fee to participate in AEWE-your only costs would be system support/manufacture, travel, and possibly costs associated with the government safety release.

• Venue allows you the ability to test-fix-test in stride.

• Attend three planning conferences.

• Work with the Army to complete a safety release for Soldiers to use your capability.

• Minimal other administrative paperwork.

• Vendor Demonstration Agreement

• DD 2400 series forms and Air Worthiness Release for aircraft

• As required attend integration and/or installation activities.

Government Sponsorship

• Once we receive your quad chart and white paper, the Maneuver Battle Lab (MBL) will share those with DoD stakeholders for sponsorship.

• Sponsorship means that a government organization has an interest in seeing the capability in AEWE and will assist the MBL in developing an assessment plan.

• Government sponsors submit to the MBL a one page description of interest in the capability including:

• Objectives for the experiment

• Applicable gaps, requirements, or programs informed

Second Call for Technologies

AEWE 2021

AEWE is tentatively planning on releasing a second call for technologies in June 2020. Note that the original call for technologies information is on the AEWE website. The additional capabilities that we seek include:1. Autonomous resupply to move critical supplies to the point of need. 2. Capabilities that link sensors to effectors such as artillery, mortars, or close air

support. 3. Unmanned ISR systems that possess multiple domain sensor capabilities (i.e.

both optical and Electronic Warfare (EW) sensors).4. Electronic Warfare (EW) attack and threat EW attack detection / protection

within the BCT.

The second call for technologies will be posted on the AEWE website. We can also send it directly to your organization. To request that, request the second tech call information via an e-mail to usarmy.benning.tradoc.mbx.mbl-expeditionary-warrior-experiments@mail.mil.
