Issue 2 Jan - Jun 2014 Volume I The News Letter Army Institute of Education, Greater NOIDA organised a one day National Seminar on “Innovations and Challenges in Teacher th Education”, on 15 Feb 2014; with the purpose of critically analyzing the challenges in conceptualization and actualization of changing trends in teacher education & to promote the knowledge construction of the teacher educators in modern scenario. Principal AIE welcomed the guests and the participants. She gave an overview of the institute’s profile and events organised in AIE till Feb 2014. Honourable Chief Guest, Prof AK Sharma, Former Director of NCERT and Advisor NCTE inaugurated the seminar by the speech on the theme. The Guest of Honour was Prof. Saroj Sharma, Ex Dean & Sr. Prof. University School of Education, GGSIPU, There were two plenary sessions. Each session had two sub themes. Principal AIE welcomed the guests and the participants. She gave an overview of the institute’s profile and events organised in AIE till Feb 2014. Honourable Chief Guest, Prof AK Sharma, Former Director of NCERT and Advisor NCTE inaugurated the seminar by the speech on the theme.

The Guest of Honour was Prof. Saroj Sharma, Ex Dean & Sr. Prof. University School of Education, GGSIPU,

There were two plenary sessions. Each session had two sub themes.

Visit to DoordarshanA Genext programme was organized by Doordarshan on

th19 Mar 2014 on the theme “Value Integrated Education”. Swami Muktanand ji from Anand Ashram, Kerela and Mr. Subhash Kashyap, Constitutional expert and the member of parliament, discussed on the topic. 30 students from AIE participated in the show and they were accompanied by Mrs. Pratibha Garg Asst. Professor of AIE The programme

thwas aired on DD news on 29 Mar 2014 at 1:30 pm. The students got a very good exposure through this kind of participation and discussion programme.

EDUCATIONAL TRIPS..Surajkund International Craft MelaStudents and faculty enjoyed a trip to Surajkund International Craft Mela at

thFaridabad on 6 Feb 2014. They explored various art and craft articles of National and international places. This year the theme of the Mela was “Goa”. They saw various cultural dances and enjoyed dancing with Malaysian dancers. Photograph

VISIT OF ARMY DIGNITARIES..

Central Institute of Educational Technology and National Science CentreA visit was organized for the students of AIE

thon 5 Mar to the Central Institute of Educational Technology and National Science Centre, Delhi. Students were exposed to vast cognizance. The CIET has two audio studios and two video studios with state of the art post production facilities.The students of AIE learned how to use the puppets as teaching resources.The National Science Centre, Delhi is fractioned into numerous sections/galleries namely Science and Technology, Indian Heritage, Human Biology, Evolution from cave painting to internet, Emerging technology etc. Overall the visit was very informative and educative for the students.

COMMUNITY SERVICE..Students of AIE enthusiastically participated in the Herbal Garden activities like planting the saplings, cleaning the area, watering the plants of Herbal Garden.Everyday all the students worked together in the herbal garden. They planted various plants like Tulsi, Mint, Night Jasmine, Guava, Marigold, Aloe vera, and many more.

GUEST LECTURES AND WORKSHOPS..1.Our College organized an extension lecture by an Eminent speaker of International fame Prof. Geeta Pathak Sangrola; from Nepal, founder member of Kathmandu School of Law Council,

2.Art & Craft Workshop - A Workshop on art & craft was organized st th

in AIE by an executive from Pidilite from 1 - 4 Feb 2014. The pupil teachers learnt many items prepared by best out of the waste. She gave demo for tie and dye technique also. It was a very useful workshop for the students.

3.VITAL WORKSHOP - AIE organized a one day workshop on Value Integrated Teaching & Learning on th

12 Feb 2014. Swami Muktananda Ji, a tremendous speaker from Anand Ashram Kerala came to take the session. This workshop was truly inspirational and very useful for the would be teachers of AIE.

4.Yoga workshop - A one day Yoga workshop was organised for the pupil teachers of AIE on th20 Mar 2014. The workshop was conducted by Dr Jai Prakash Sharma, Associate professor, Indira

Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Science (University of Delhi).

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2013-2014stAIE organised its annual sports meet on 21 Mar 2014. It was comprised of mix events, badminton, table tennis, march past

and other exciting events.Dr Saksham Singh, Principal AIE declared the meet open after the oath taking ceremony. This was followed by a march past. Track events and Tug of War were the highlight of the day.Dr Saksham Singh, motivated the students to inculcate a spirit of sportsmanship and discipline in life. She encouraged them to continue bringing laurels to the college. This was followed by a torch bearer led Honour run by the athletes of AIE. Ms. Pooja Chahar got the trophy of Best Sportsperson (female). Mr. Ankit Bhardwaj got the trophy of Best Sportsperson (Male). The results of the different events are as follows.

CULTURAL FEST ULLAS..th stA two day cultural fest was organized at AIE on 30 -31 Jan 2014. The Principal AIE inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp followed by Saraswati vandana and a solo dance performance by

Aradhana Verma. Principal AIE motivated the students and asked them to participate in all the competitions with a competitive spirit. A number of events were held in Ullas.

Holi CelebrationRepublic Day CelebrationThe republic day was celebrated with great

thenthusiasm on 24 Jan 2014. An inter house competition was organized among the students of AIE on this occasion. The events which were organized on the occasion are as follows:

houses participated.c) Antakshari competition was also organized which was an inter house

competition as well.The teachers also actively participated in the HOLI celebration. They sang different songs and enjoyed the event completely.In the evening,” Holika” was burned with all the rituals and sweets were distributed to all. This was followed by dance by all the students and the residential faculty members, Dr. S.K. Panda and Mrs. Pratibha Garg. Holi was celebrated in the campus by all the hostellers and residential faculty members with gulal and water colours followed by distribution of sweets. Everyone enjoyed a lot with vibrant colours of holi.

Foundation Day Celebrationth stThe 11 foundation day of AIE was celebrated on 21 Feb 2014.

Special invitations were dispatched to the alumni who turned up to celebrate it with everyone. The program started with the lighting of the lamp followed by Saraswati vandana. An inter house quiz competition was organized by Pragya house in which Pragyanam house stood Ist. An event of musical chair was also organized for the faculty members and the alumni.

AMITY YOUTH FESTFew students of AIE presented Skit and Dance in Amity Institute of Education in AMITY Youth Festival on

th nd7 Feb 2014. Army Institute of Education won the II position for their skit which was based on the importance of literacy.

AIMT ANNUAL FUNCTIONStudents of AIE participated in the annual function ALANKRITI organized by AIMT, Greater NOIDA on
