2. ALC at a Glance

The Army Law College (ALC) Pune is a residential institution established since July 2018 by the Indian Army under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). The College is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and its 5 year Integrated BBA LL.B has approval of the Bar Council of India.

The Army Law College, Pune is established on land gifted by Radha Kaliandas Daryanani Charitable Trust (RKDCT). The present infrastructure consists of renovated and well-furnished buildings, on 5.82 Acres of land, giving perfect ambience of a heritage institution. Army Law College is located at Kanhe, on old Pune-Mumbai NH 4 and about 45 KM from Pune & 20 KM short of Lonavala. The College with serene, natural surroundings presents an ideal location for an educational institution. The College is well connected by train (Kanhe railway station is about 1.5 KM) and road (Mumbai-Pune Highway about 500 mtrs).

The College is being developed in three phases. The Phase I renovation provided for the existing building to accommodate all students of first two batches. The second phase will come up with complete infrastructure of Army Law College to include administrative and academic blocks, boys and girls hostel accommodations, indoor and outdoor recreational & sports area. 100% hostel accommodation with messing & other amenities is available as part of the Phase II. The final phase will provide residential accommodation for the staff of the ALC.

6. Pedagogy

The methodology being adopted at ALC is essentially learner – centered, strengthening students in reflective and critical thinking skill along with value-orientation. It will consist of intensive/ extensive classroom sessions that are participative and interactive. These will be reinforced with clinical training in law and supplemented by individual as well as collective projects, assignments, seminars and presentations. Students will be continuously evaluated for assimilation and rewarded for their performances.

7. Attendance Rule

Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory as per Savitribai Phule Pune University rules to appear in the semester examinations. As per ALC Rules students are required to have a minimum of 85% attendance in aggregate to avoid payment of fine. Condonation of absence accrued due to medical reasons or absence accrued due to representing the ALC at events will be granted as per ALC rules.

8. Passing Criteria

10. Hostel Army Law College is fully residential institution. ALC provides hostel facilities

for 120 boys and 200 girls respectively. A student joining the hostel is expected to have the following:-

11. Rules for the Hostels

Management of ALC reserves the rights to decide on whom to admit to the hostels. Every year, a student is required to apply for admission to the hostels. It is compulsory for all students to reside in the hostel room allotted to them in each year. The management is empowered and entitled to lay down norms and standards of behavior / conduct to be adhered by the hostellers. The decision of the chairman on matters concerning the hostel is final and binding.

Independent Hostel buildings for boys and girls with respective male and

female wardens have been catered for.

The students are expected to adhere to ALC Code of Conduct which will be issued separately.

Parents of students given admission to the hostel are required to sign an undertaking that their ward will adhere to AWES & College norms and any violation of the rules shall invite appropriate action as per the Code.

Smoking, consumption of alcohol or any psychotropic substance is strictly

prohibited in hostels. Any involvement therein shall invite immediate suspension from the hostel.

The student may forfeit his right to stay in hostel in case of involvement in any case of indiscipline and non-payment of fees by the stipulated date.

During vacations/term break the hostel mess will remain closed and students will vacate their hostel rooms. Permission to stay in the hostel for any part of the vacation, for any reason, will be at the discretion of the College Management.

The College Management has the sole right to frame rules and amend it at any

time it so feels.

Rules for Day Out Pass & Night Out Pass are as per Code of Conduct. No responsibility of the Institute for safety and security of the students when they are on out pass. It is at their own/parent's risk.

12. Dress Code

The College has prescribed the following dress code which is to be observed on all working days:-

Boys:Black trousers, White Full Sleeves Shirt tucked-in, ALC neck tie/cravat, black leather shoes and black socks.

Girls: Black trousers, White Full Sleeves Shirt tucked-in, ALC neck tie/ cravat, black belly shoes with black socks.

Black coat (lawyers) will be stitched/ procured centrally during the course.

Four pairs of uniform per student is recommended Night Dress: All students will be in possession of proper night dress

which will be worn at the time of sleeping at night.

Games Dress: Track suit with sports shoes.

Note: All students on joining shall be in possession of at least two sets of College Uniform specified above. Wearing of uniform on all working days shall be compulsory. Breach of dress code constitutes an act of indiscipline, which is subject to fine. The ALC expects students to be well dressed and presentable in the Campus.

13. College Rules and Code of Conduct

Army Law College insists on high standard of discipline from the students for enhancing the status and reputation of this Centre of excellence in legal education. In case a student violates the Code of Conduct or directions issued by the Principal/Registrar, strict disciplinary action including expulsion may be ordered on the basis of inquiry conducted by the College authorities. Parents are advised not to seek any deviation from these rules. The following Code of Conduct is to be studied by the parents and students. These will be adhered to by the students at Army Law College. Any violation of code of conduct will result in disciplinary action against her/him:-

(a) Do not indulge in any act that will tarnish the image of Army Law College in particular, and the Indian Army in general.

(b) Be respectful to all staff members, in particular the teaching staff and wardens. (c) Be appropriately dressed for classes, mess, outside the hostel rooms and

particularly when in town.

(d) Be dressed as specified in the Dress Code. (e) Do not indulge in smoking in the campus. (f) Possession and consumption of all kinds of alcoholic beverages in the campus

and in the hostel is strictly prohibited.

(g) Keep the campus clean and pollution free. (h) Take pride in being a student of ALC and aim for excellence. (j) Always move out of the campus with an I-Card. (k) Be extremely regular as well as punctual in all classes. (l) Treat ALC property with utmost care and help in its upkeep. Damage caused

to any property will be made good through fines levied on the student/students causing the damage.

(m) Don’t participate in any political, anti-national, anti-social or undesirable

activity in or outside the campus. (n) Every student will be required to attend minimum 85% lectures delivered in

that class in each paper. (o) Absence from class without leave is liable to fine.

(p) Curbing Ragging in Educational Institution. Ragging in any form is strictly

prohibited in ALC and places where students of ALC stay. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/ her involvement and if the explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority may expel him/her from the institution. Attention of all students are invited to UGC website (URL) www.ugc.ac.in/page/Ragging-Related-Circulars.aspx, students are advised to make themselves aware of the provisions contained therein.

Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions.

University Grant Commission (UGC) has issued Regulations, 2015 in the above regard. The regulations have come into force on 2nd May 2016. 14. Religious and Political Functions

The ALC does not organize nor allow anyone to organize any religious or political functions inside its academic premises, residential premises or in any facilities run by or operated under the aegis of ALC.

15. Distribution of Seats (BBA. LL.B)

Total seats in 1st Year BBA LL.B : 60 100% seats are reserved for children of Army personnel. Allotment of seats

will be strictly in accordance with the merit in MAH LL.B (5 Years) CET Exam and the eligibility criteria specified in this prospectus.

16. Eligibility Criteria Applicant should have passed Senior Secondary(Class XII) with min 50 %

marks in any stream. Children of following categories can apply:-

(a) Children of serving Army personnel with min 10 years continuous service in the Army. (Submit Certificate No 1, refer Page-28)

(b) Children of ex-Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/invalidated medical board. This includes children of medically boarded out and granted disability pension. (Submit Certificate No 1)

(c) Children of ex-Army personnel who have taken discharge/release after

10 Yrs service. (Submit Certificate No 1)

(d) Adopted/ Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows. (i) Adopted children of Army personnel adopted at least five years

prior to seeking admission.(Submit Certificate No 2, refer Page-29)

(ii) Step children are eligible provided they are born out of a

wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army. (Submit Certificate No 2)

(iii) Children of widows of Army personnel who are born as a result

of second marriage with Army personnel. However, children of widows of Army personnel born out of re-marriage with Non-Army personnel would not be eligible for admission. (Submit Certificate No 2).

(e) Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases.

Eligibility Criteria for wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/ Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN/IAF). Wards of only those ex-Army Medical Officers/ Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army unit/establishment for 10 yrs. (Submit Certificate No 3, refer Page30).

(d) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS / MNS / TA Personnel.

(i) Children of Army Postal Service (APS) personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9(52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 July 1989. (Submit Certificate No 3).

(ii) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who served 10 years in the Indian Army. (Submit Certificate No 3).

(iii) Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS

who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P & T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which ten years was in the Army. (Submit Certificate No 3).

(iv) Children of only those members of Military Nursing Service(MNS) who have 10 years of service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army. (Submit Certificate No 3).

(v) Children of only those Territorial Army personnel who have

completed 10 years of embodied service. (Submit Certificate No 3).

Grant of Weightage (Gallantry Awards) Additional weightage as mentioned below will be added to the marks

obtained in MAH CET Law 2021 by the candidates, if either of their parents have been awarded any of the following gallantry awards & distinguished service in War/Hostilities before arriving at final CET Merit :-

(a)

Proof of Award

Proof of the award duly attested (Part II Order/ Copy of the Citation/

Government of India Gazette Notification conferring the award clearly specifying

the gallantry nature of the award) should be submitted with the application for

claiming the weightage. In absence of the same, specified percentage will not be

added. No representation in this regard will be entertained subsequently.

18. Fee Refund Rules Refers to Chapter 14, Para 290, 292 to 295 of AWES Rules and Regulations

for Army Colleges / Institutions of Apr 2009. As follows:-

Para 290. Once the admission results are declared and the list of candidates granted admission/ wait listed is finalized, all institutions will obtain a willingness certificate from the candidates and charge Rs. 10,000/-, at their discretion, as Registration Fee from both categories. If the candidate joins the institution and commences the course, this registration fees will be adjusted against tuition fee.
