FROM THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members, Welcome back to Term 2, I hope that you have all been able to have a relaxing holiday and had the opportunity to enjoy some family time. Following on from celebrating the Resurrection, we are an 'Easter people' who continue to celebrate the good news of Jesus' rising from death. Family life is strengthened through storytelling and shared meal times. Healthful food is important for our physical nourishment, but gathering for meals nourishes us in other ways as well. In a similar way, Christian life is sustained by God’s word in Scripture and by Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. Our encounter with Christ in the Eucharist nourishes us and strengthens us to be his witnesses. Staff Welcome to Ms Tahlia Nicol who replaces Mrs Cerryn Henry in 2K. We wish Mrs Belinda Martin all the best for her week of Long Service Leave, Mrs Erika Haines replaces Belinda in the office this week. Welcome Erika. Welcome to Mrs Julie Watson who replaces Mrs Kay Zivkovic while she is on long service leave for 6 weeks. Welcome Julie. What's Been Happening Block D and Early Years toilet refurb and the overflow construction has been completed. Foreman, Andy, and his team from Campak remain on site to do the last few landscaping finishes. Currently we are trying to investigate water leaks on the site, our groundsmen have done initial investigations over the holidays and cannot find the source. On Saturday we will have specialists here on site to investigate further. We cannot have anyone using water on site during his investigation. Tomorrow Mr Mason, Mrs Steger (Workplace Health and Safety Officer) and I will respond to BCE Safety Alerts regarding Traffic Management Plans. We will need to draft a plan to manage possible traffic concerns, including parking and drop off and pick up areas. Preliminary discussions have revolved around relocating delivery drop offs and restricting use of driveways. Leadership Ceremony Next Monday, in place of our usual assembly, we will hold a Leadership Ceremony to commission our Year 6 Leaders for 2018. You are all very welcome to join us for this ceremony in Unitas at 8.45am. Newsletter Following on from feedback about our weekly newsletter, we are proposing to change the frequency of it in order to streamline information that is sent home. Beginning this term, we will have a fortnightly newsletter and will have a School and Community News format for the second week. This means that each odd week, we will have our newsletter go out on it's own to make it easier for parents to identify and read. On the even weeks we will send out a 'one pager' with calendar items, award recipients and attach all the other bits and pieces of information / flyers that are usually sent out with the main newsletter.
