Galapagos-Island Ecuador

•  This volcanic islands forms an archipelago in the Ecuadorian´s Pacific Ocean, and it´s a living museum of evolution in the world. This wonderful territory was visited by Charles Darwin in 1835, when he sailed on the British ship H.S.M. Beagle, and inspired his theory of the Origin of Species. The Galapagos Islands and surroundings waters are an Ecuadorian National Park, and are considered a biological marine reserve. This archipelago was declared a World Natural Heritage Site by Unesco in 1978, and is famous for the endemic species

that inhabit there: giant Galapagos tortoises; marine and land iguanas; many species of birds, as blue footed and red footed boobies, flamingos, small penguins, and marine mammals as sea lions, and dolphins, etc.

For these and for other several reasons, Galapagos Islands can be chosen as a vacation place; there you can find a great variety of flora and fauna, you can enjoy the beach and the ocean’s plans, and more activities. First, you arrive on a plain at Baltra’s or San Cristobal’s airport, and then you can move to different places: Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz Island), Puerto Villamil (Isabela Island) and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (San Cr is tobal Is land) . Many activities, as seesighting the natural park, visit iguanas’ and tortoises’ corrals and diving in the Pacific Ocean are some activities that you can do. At Puerto Ayora, for example, places as Charles Darwin Foundation Headquarters and they tortoises’ and land iguanas’ corrals can be visited in one day of adventure; at night you can get some drink and many kinds of world’s food at Charles Darwin Avenue. Tortuga Bay is another charmed place to visit at Puerto Ayora: first, you can take a taxi ($1) to the gate, and then you walk along the natural path, surrounded by Optunia Cactus’ forest, to the white sand beach.

If you want to go to another island, Isabela could be a good destination. Isabela Island is near Puerto Ayora (2 hours on boat), and there you can visit the flamingos’ lagoon, and travel to Sierra Negra, where you can see the second largest crater of the world. Also, you can visit San Cristobal Island (2 and half hours on boat). There you can go to Lobos Island, and see many sea lions in his natural home, or visit El Junco, the only fresh water lagoon in the archipelago. Galapagos Islands offer you many interesting possibilities to live nature and adventure 1,000 km away from continent at Pacific Ocean. If you’re a nature lover, to visit this magical place is a good idea for you, and an excellent vacation plan. Don’t forget: from December to May are the most warm and sunny months, and in this time you can see “the green Galapagos Islands”.

On November 10 of 1948 Salvador Dalí showed to the world a place, that until that moment was known only by a few people or better, only

by some inhabitants of the town: Il parco di mostri di Bomarzo (the Park of the Monsters of Bomarzo). The woods, located in Bomarzo, a town of the province of Viterbo, in the center of Italy, was thought by Pier Francesco Orsini (1523-1583) in 1552 as a monument to Giulia

Farnese, his dead wife, and in the building’s process participated Pirro Ligorio (1514-1583), who was superintendent to the ancient monuments, and also Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola (1507-1573).

The park is full of mythological and historical figures like roman’s Gods, Hercules, turtles, a mermaid, a dragon fighting with a lion, snakes, and a soldier that has been eaten by one of Hannibal’s elephants, fonts, a mausoleum. One can enter in this wood through a leaning house, read this entrace's announcement animus quieschendo fit prudentior ergo (that means, a peaceful spirit makes a prudent being), go across the park seeing the colossal sculptures, and read phrases engraved on the stones, until one arrives to a big and ‘demonic’ face of an Orcus, that also is a kind of little room, where Vicino used to be.

Even though all the researche that had been made during the these years, nobody can conclude something about the meaning of this park: on one hand, some people think that it only is a garden (similar to the gardens of the epoch) with a stile between the renaissances and the baroque, and other people think –based on the poems of Tasso, Dante, Ariosto, Colona, and Petrarch– the wood is a representation of a travel to the hell and for that reason considered the park as the place of an spiritual trip. On the other hand, people like Manuel Mujica Lainez (1910-1984) in his novel Bomarzo (1962), imagine the park as a mixture of both theories and present a lonely condotiero (a lonely capitan of the mercenary army), who suffers because of his crimes, loves a dead woman, and builds the park to remember all what he has done, but also to save his soul and win the immortality. Whatever responses you choose, you cannot lose the chance to go inside it and discover that ogni pensier vola (all thoughts are passing), and that the water font does not allow to people that keep in jail the most dangerous beasts. Life is simple. Try to imagine what it would be to live in a city with the history from Roman Empire. This is Hamburg. A special city, which is the second largest in Germany. Cosmopolitan, industrial, huge, classic, harbor, are some features of this place.

Soul Kitchen it’s a movie that was set in folk Hamburg. It talks about everyday-problems, ordinary things. This is an entertaining film than tells the story of an ordinary man owner a bankruptcy restaurant, debt-ridden and disappointed of love.

!If you want to see a blockbuster or a masterfully film, isn’t for you, but if you want to have a good moment by watching a sunrise or see people walking around, in other words, if you are a XXI century romantic, you'll love it. !

The german director Fatih Akim gets a eventful work with a great cast like Birol Unel (Head-on 2004), Mortiz Bleibtrew (Lola Run Lola 1998, The Experiment 2001), Adam Bousdoukos (In July 2000). The music is so important too; you’ll feel like if you were stuck between the bass drum beat in the middle of a concert of percussion, with bands like “Kool and the gang” or “Mongo Santamaria” which is absolutely powerful.

Soul Kitchen contains love, madness, deception, music, gourmet, rock and soul music, industrial locations, sex, culture, bets, crazy parties… What else you want? Let yourself away!!!

Some reasons to travel to St. Petersburg

Saint Petersburg-Russia, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with an enriched history, splendid architecture and a lot of interesting cultural traditions. This city, the second biggest in Europe, was founded in the beginnings of XVIII century and has been taken part of a set of historic events that makes it a fascinating place to visit.

A trip to Saint Petersburg must include a visit to one of the most famous imperial palaces near the city. These palaces are a showcase of the Emperors of Russia lifestyle from Peter the Great, the founder of the city, onwards. The list of palaces includes the Peterhof, TsarsKye Selo and Gatchina among others.

He Peterhof, sometimes called "the Russian Versaille”, was ordered to build by Peter the Great inspired by Versalles, and it was a popular state in the next generations of Tsars. The palace was improved throughout the XVIII and the next century gently. The empress Elizabeth (Peter the Great`s granddaughter), ordered the expansion of that Palace and greatly extended the park and its system of fountains, including the famous and spectacular Grand Cascade. During the Second World War, almost every suburban palace in St. Petersburg was ravaged by German troops, including The Peterhof. Nevertheless, this palace was repaired thanks to the help of a lot of military engineers and over 1000 voluntaries, at the end of the 40 s.

Moreover, St Petersburg has a bunch of attractions and interesting sights, such as the monuments, the religion watch tower, interesting museums and engineering wonders as its great bridges and the Venice of the North, a part of the city built on hundreds of islands. Also, the transportation between the sights is more than enough and appropriated for the travelers, which due to the transport infrastructure has growth at the same time with the city and offers an extensive system of local roads and railway services, besides the waterways. The public transportation in St. Petersburg includes the Saint Petersburg Tram and the Saint Petersburg Metro.

Finally, regarding accommodation, in St. Petersburg a variety of hotels that may suit almost all requirements of travelers are available. If the desire is to travel in an inexpensive way, there are a lot of youth hostels which may offer night accommodation even for 12 Euros providing the basic services and offering a friendly, adventurous and a multicultural atmosphere. A travel to Saint Petersburg is a good opportunity to learn about history, cultures and lifestyles. The money isn’t a problem if you decide to find and choose the appropriate options. Travelling around the world brings interesting experiences to you and Saint Petersburg is an excellent place to star.

SOCCER IN LATINAMERICA

Soccer is a very popular sport which many people like all around the world. Also in Colombia many people spend their weekends around a soccer field, playing or watching the sport. But, how and when did soccer arrive in Latin America?

Long time ago many forms of football existed, but only during the 19th century soccer began to emerge from its sister sport: the rugby. In 1848 the first set of rules was wr i t ten in England by representatives of several schools. The rules were changed many t i m e s b e f o r e t h e F o o t b a l l Association (FA) of England was crea ted in 1863 . Wi th th is background soccer came to Latin America where British schools made it popular in the community of expatriates. Later the first clubs were founded, for example in Argentina and Uruguay.

With the creation of the Asociación of Football, soccer was spread to everyone all over the continent. The f irst world championship was played in Uruguay in 1930. The final game was played between the host country and Argentina, there Uruguay claimed the title, winning 4-2.

The next world championship will also take place in South America. There, Brazil hopes to do the same as Uruguay, winning the title in their own country. Colombia, with a bit of luck, will also have a word to say who will be the next world champion.

OLIMPIC GAMES The Olympic Games have been an

important event for many years and the reason is that all the sports disciplines take place along with thousands of athletes from all around the world.

Every four years in the Olympic Games, the opening ceremony typically starts with the hoisting of the host country’s flag and a performance of its national anthem. The host nation then presents artistic shows of music, singing and dance representative of its culture. The closing ceremony takes place after al l sport ing events have concluded and finally three flags are hoisted while the corresponding national anthems are played: the flag of the current host country, the flag of Greece, to honor the birthplace of the Olympics and the flag of the country hosting the next Olympic games.

Winter & Paralympic Games There are different seasons for the Olympics, like the winter games created to show ice and sports that were impossible to hold during the summer games and the Paralympics with first held in 1960 in Roma, that brought 400 athletes with disabilities and the second time in Seoul 1988. So they wanted to change public attitudes towards disability and to show the importance of Paralympic sports and to integrate two games in one Olympic year but in the other hand in 2010, the Olympic games were complemented by the youth games which give athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 the chance to compete.
