Intermediate Holding Points
B2, A5, C2

Aerodrome Diagram
• B2, A5, C2 - These holding points are the hot spots for holding point busts
• B2 – Luton asked for the B underneath B2 to be replaced with B2 to give a better understanding of where the holding point is
• Clutter – Luton asked for unnecessary arrows and Apron names to be removed as they don‟t use those names operationally
• Alpha – Luton has noticed that if you were to be told to taxi via „A‟ your eyes would naturally be drawn to the left of the airfield where there are 3 A signs on the chart

Possible Causes
• Cockpit Distraction
• Incorrect Phraseology
• Airfield Layout
• Different Airfield Systems
• Weather
• Aerodrome Chart Confusion
• Misinterpretation

Summary
• „Taxi Holding Point B2‟ means stop short of
B2
• Pilots may be told to „Hold Short‟ of a specific
taxiway or link which is not routinely done at
Luton
• Therefore, if an aircraft were to stop past B2
but still remain on the Bravo Taxiway it would
still count as a holding point bust
