Your starting point is Melle in the beautiful Grönegau between Teutoburger Wald and the Wiehengebirge. The Grönegau is the second largest area in Lower Saxony, offers fascinating contrasts and sightseeing objects like the Automobile Museum, the Observatory, Planet Trail, Bifurkation, Wildlife park with Diedrichsburg, the Westhoyel Windmill and the Moated Castle of Gesmold. Bad Rothenfelde with the biggest saltern, Osnabrück with it’s historical Old Town as well as Ledenburg and Schelenburg are only a few kilometers away.
