STICKY COLLAGEElementary
Materials
•5” x 9” cardstock
•Scissors
•2” x 2” white paper (for measuring
•Various colors of peelable sticky paper.
Step 1: Measuring
Before pieces are attached we need to make sure they are measured correctly.
Using the 2” x 2” white paper place cut out shape on top. If it goes over the edges it is too big.
Measuring Continued
If the cut out shape fits inside our white square then it is the right size.
Step 2: Peeling
When attaching a new shape to our collage carefully peel white backing from color.
Step 3: Attaching
Begin with a rectangle and attach to one of the corners of cardstock.
Attaching Continued
Alternate between different shapes, connecting one to the previous.
It is ok to overlap a little bit to begin but try to keep to a minimum until later.
Attaching Continued
After 8 to 10 shapes have been attached to one side of paper begin on the opposite side with new shapes.
Attaching Continued
Switching from side to side helps to balance the collage.
Attaching Continued
When the left side and right sides touch then begin to fill in empty spaces.
Attaching Continued
As more shapes are added feel free to overlap more with smaller shapes.
Step 4: Finish
When finishing collage very carefully begin to scan over entire piece looking for any small spaces that are not covered.
Once finished hang on wall.
