Introduction• Art director is the title of variety of similar job functions in theater, advertising, marketing, publishing, fashion, film and television, the internet, and video games.• Art directors are in charge to supervise and unify the vision. In particular, the art director is in charge of the overall appearence and how it communicates with audience in visual way, which also stimulates moods, contrast features and psychologically appeal to target audience.The art director makes decisions about visual elements used, and the style that is designed.

• The main difficulty for art directors is how to transfer mood, concepts, ideas and languages by imagery, which means they need to create the images and visual elements to represent all these areas without written language, this can be like a brain storm.

• So in order to play with this role in groups, I reckon a lot of thinking will be done and you need to have lots of creativity skills to cope with the tasks and artistic illustration to replace words perfectly . In another word, a question about how to use props, make-up, and locations to represemt the mood, ideas, ideology and concepts,even genre and characters in the video. Hnece in this case, it is really challenging.

Skills required• Art directors give the visual identity for a film, they work on feature films, commercials and some types of television productions, they act as project managers.• So let me talk about some skills that are required for art directors:• Have a good knowledge about interior design • Have practical understanding of building and construction.• understand the work of camera, lighting, sound, props and to know how your set designs effect their work.• Have a good knowledge about computrt budgeting sofeware.• Excellent free-hand drawing skill is required• Be able to think visually• Have strong leadership skills to motivate the team.• (......)

How to play the role in group?• For the music video shooting, we still need the art director to visualise the video and illustrate in a clear way of the mood, the ideology and the ideas and genre as well, which means to organise the projects in the video.

• If I am the art director, I think my drawing skill is ok to cope with the location or maybe make-up, costume design, but I think I am lack in creativity skills as not enough

• However, I can discuss with the group and collect the ideas over the team to make up my own one, and ask someone for help to make the video look in a more visual way.

• Another concern is that the computing skill for me is a little bit weak so I need to improve that kind of skill to cope with this job.
