HOW TO TURN THIS PDF INTO A POSTERTurning a PDF into a poster is relatively easy on home printers. These instructions from ADOBE are pretty clear but if you need a tutorial, I got you covered.

Basically, any PDF file can be printed. It’s the way you set up your printing options which will determine how big your poster size will be. It’s important to note that unless you have a large format printer, you will have to print out the sheets, trim the edges and then it all glue together. It takes a bit of work, but it’s an easy task.

!!Here’s what to do:

Click Print and when the printing option box pops up, add the following information:

• Click to print CURRENT page (you don’t need to print the instructions)

• Click Poster in Page Sizing & Handling

• Tile Scale: 100% defaults to a 17” x 22” poster. I like the 22” x 34” size, so set Tile Scale to 150%

• Add in the overlap of .005”

• Check “Cut marks”

Again, if your dialog box doesn’t look like this, it’s best to follow the Adobe link (top of page) as they are better at explaining these types of things!

Print all pages of the poster (8 for size 22” x 34” poster). Trim edges carefully along trim guides.Try very hard to trim straight and true along the inside trim lines (this is where the wording is). It really helps to ferret out the straightest trimmer you have!

Once all the papers are trimmed, lay papers onto a piece of poster board or large piece of paper. I plan to laminate my poster, so I’m not overly concerned with the paper weight.

Once all the papers are laid out, start at the bottom and apply RUBBER CEMENT to poster board not the image paper. Lay down the image of the poster onto the poster board. Realign if necessary. Rubber cement can be lifted and repositioned again which makes it a much better choice than other glues.

Once everything is glued down, smooth papers with the flat edge of a ruler. Trim away any access poster board/paper.

Laminating the poster is a great way to extend the life of the poster.
