Lakewoods Summer Camp has been a popular choice among parents and children, and many students return year after year. This is a camp you dont want to miss! For kids entering 1st-3rd grade, September 2017 What we learn becomes a part of who we are! June Session: June 5th- June 30th $750 July Session: July 3rd (Closed 4th)- July 28th $750 August Session: July 31st– August 18th $562.50 Enrollment $25 registration fee per session Parents are responsible for agreed tuition Cancellations require four weeksnotice Enrollment requires registration form and fee Pick Up and Drop Off Earliest camp drop-off is 8:00. We leave for field trips at 8:30 Earliest pick up is 4:30 Latest pick up is 5:30. No childcare before/after camp Late pick up charge: $1.00/min A Valley Ride pass and a Boise pool pass are required to participate in summer camp.

2017 Camp Themes

JUNE Week 1: From Sensation to Perception The Five Senses

This week we are exploring with our senses. We will discover how each sense connects our brain to the world around us, and learn just how much our senses can tell us.

Week 2: Mega Minded Machines Early Engineering This week we are exploring early engineering skills! We’ll learn about different types of simple machines, and the principles that make them work. Week 3: Blast Off! Solar System Solar System and Rockets This week we won’t just be learning about outer space, we’ll be learning how to get there too! We’ll study the planets that share an orbit with our sun, and find out all about how rockets are able to break past the Earth’s atmosphere. Week 4: Howl and Prowl Predators of Idaho This week we are discovering Idaho’s predators. We’ll learn about how carnivores of all shapes and sizes survive and thrive in our ecosystem.

AUGUST Week 1: Aquatic Adventure Aquatic Adventure This week we’re diving beneath the waves to learn about creatures that live under water. What weird and wonderful things will we find? Week 2: Biome Builders! Biomes This week we are getting in touch with the Tundra, Taiga, Grasslands, Forests, Deserts, and the Savanna. We will explore these different biomes and take a crack at building our very own. Week 3: Microscope Matters! Microscope Life and Cells This week we will explore the world we can’t see with the naked eye. With the help of microscopes, we will take a deeper look at cells and other microscopic life.

JULY Week 1: Weeds and Seeds! Plants of Idaho This week we will be Botanists and explore our local plant life. We will study the parts of a seed and the complex journey it undergoes to become a plant. Week 2: Push and Pull! Magnets This week we are exploring with magnets. We’ll be observing and testing the forces of magnetism with experiments and fun activities. Week 3: Catch Me if You Can! Animal Adaptations for Movement

This week we are looking at how animals move and how different adaptations help them maneuver through their environment. How important is it to slither, bound, or jump?

Week 4: Pollinator Pals Bees and Other Pollinators This week we are exploring pollinators. We’ll get up close and personal with butterflies and honey bees and discover how they assist the plant world.
