Artificial Intelligence – Future Tech for a Smarter World.

Technology Over the Years

Advancement in technology has influenced nearly every sector of society. Education, medicine, commerce, communication, you name it, the list is endless. The importance of technology doesn’t need justification. Don’t believe it? Try going a day without your phone.

Statistics are numerical statements of facts. And statistics show us, that in India, internet usage took more than a decade to move from 10 million users to 100 million users and only three years from 100 to 200 million users. India alone ,is expected to add a minimum of 300 million internet users in the next 5 years!

What Does Future Tech Hold for Us?

Are Iron Man and Cyborgs in the making? Not to disappoint you, but that’s fictional, at least for now.

But wait! What might be a reality in the near future is just as interesting. Here’s a list of futuristic gadgets, that will be in use a few years down the line: • Self-driving cars.• Bionic prosthetics with a sense of touch.• Strength-enhancing upper-body exoskeletons.• Virtual Reality, to name a few.

Artificial Intelligence: Introducing the FutureArtificial Intelligence, or AI, is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think and learn. The goal of AI research is to create computer programs that can learn, solve problems, and think logically.

When there’s a large set of data, useful information can be extracted from it. This can be done by studying the patterns exhibited by data. Repetitive patterns can be studied and statistical predictions can be made that give us an insight into what lies ahead.

Machine Learning is a branch of Artificial intelligence. Machine Learning (ML), as the name suggests imply to enable machines/computers to learn (over time) to take decisions. What are those decisions, and how are they taken, forms the core of ML and there is lot of fancy maths to support it.

IBM’s Deep Blue, playing world chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1996. Deep Blue became the first machine to win a chess game against a reigning world champion (Garry Kasparov) under regular time controls.

AI in MobileMobile Phones are the future. Why, you ask?The reason is simple, and it’s that human beings are mobile. We are not sessile organisms confined to a single location for all our lives.  If you look at every other technology ever developed, you'll see that the ability to carry it around and use it in arbitrary locations vastly increases its utility and versatilityThis is how AI in mobile will work:

Whether you like it or not the tidal wave of machine learning systems is crashing at your door steps. Embracing and integrating artificial intelligence in mobile is the best bet for the future and it holds immense potential .

AI and its Mobile Applications.

AI is already being implemented in today’s mobile apps. Even though they are mostly in their developmental stages, they’ve already proved their pivotal role in the development of tomorrow’s technology.

Some examples of AI in mobile are: • We’ve all spoken to it (or her) before. Take a

guess. Apple’s Siri. Siri is based on Natural Language Processing (NLP). NLP is a field in AI, and is also related to linguistics. On a high level, the goal of NLP is to program computers to automatically understand human languages, and also to automatically write/speak in human languages.

• This next example, is something we use everyday. At least, most of us do. Facebook’s NewsFeed algorithm. This uses a machine learning algorithm that, as of 2013, takes more than 100,000 factors into account.

More Applications of AI in Mobile

• Handwriting recognition: Google’s handwriting recognition app is already available and it supports 82 different languages and 20 distinct scripts. Google suggests it as “a fun way to enter emojis” and “useful for languages that can be challenging to type on a standard keyboard.” I doubt it can read a Doctor’s prescription letter

though. We’re still a few decades away from that technology! Jokes apart, this has various applications and machine learning algorithms are used.

How AI can be Implemented to Create Smarter Mobile Apps AI in Education: Artificial

Intelligence can automate basic activities in education, such as grading.

• Educational software can be adapted as per the students’ need.

• AI can make trial and error learning less intimidating.

AI in Medicine and Fitness: Machine learning and Data Mining can yield interesting results and compare the interactions of various drugs and their effects in people.

• This also allows us to implement a more “personalised” form of medicine by applying algorithms to understand and deduce information about a particular patient.

Here we see a robot teacher, teaching students. However, this is NOT how it AI in education looks like.

More Implementations of AI in Mobile:

• AI in Travel: You know that terrifying feeling of being hopelessly lost in a new city? Augmented reality (AR) is here to change that. It is fundamentally changing the relationship with people, their smartphones and the physical world around them. Geolocated AR is a new way of displaying information on mobile phone and tablets.

All technology that has ever been developed has helped us make our work easier. Today, technology is deep rooted into our day-to-day lives and it keeps us connected, helps us learn, helps us do business and much, much more.
