Call for Expressions of Interest from artists from the Port Adelaide region to participate in a promotional/exhibition opportunity in Port Adelaide during SALA Festival 2013.
Vacant spaces and empty windows will feature projected imagery to showcase Port Adelaide regional artists, as views into their artwork and practice. These projections will be part of a larger project - The Luminous Trail - to be presented in Port Adelaide as a part of the SALA Festival (2-25 August 2013) and are designed to showcase the diverse and beautiful practise of artists from the Port Adelaide region alongside illuminated artworks and ephemeral art exhibited by Illuminart and other artists working with light.
The projected digital images featured in Artists Windows will include photographs and artists statements contributed by the participating artists, and edited into a display that will run for 4 weeks.
To be eligible, the participating artists or collectives, groups, etc should be living or working in the Port region. Participation in the project is free. It is required that artists provide all the materials according to the specifications by the closing date, and will be compiled so that all participants receive an equal time slot within the showcase.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are due by 12 May 2013 to ensure that your name will be included in the SALA Festival program. EOIs after that date will only be included in the trail program, not in the SALA entry. EOIs can be accepted until the end of May.
Once the EOI has been received and the entry confirmed, each participant will be sent instructions on the preparation and submission of the digital photos, media and text required for their entry, to be submitted by the end of June.
The entry will include provision of a digital photograph or 30 second video portrait of the artist(s) at work (eg photograph of artist at work in their studio, or press shot at their exhibition, or video of them painting, sculpting, performing, workshop etc) and up to 10 digital images or 1 minute of video of a selection of artwork to be showcased, and the entry form text completed.
