Most o the worlds knowledge is stored in this language.Malaysians have an advantage in developing these felds i they are amiliar withthe language in which the greatest amount o research is written.In countries where English is not the mother tongue like Malaysia, learning Englishhas become not only necessary but essential. It is the most widely used languageall over the world today and it is also the INTERNET language. Certainly when one iswell-versed in the English language, the inormation world is open wide or knowledgeexploration and or keeping in touch with the latest developments.This BA in TESL (Hons) program will arm the graduates with the necessary knowledgeand skills needed to eectively teach English as a Second Language. We have a greatprogram and a great team o lecturers to lead the participants to greater heights inacquiring teaching skills in the English language.We invite all o you to join us in this Education endeavour which is exciting as wellas ruitul, preparing one and all or the challenges ahead in English languageacquisition and teaching in this language.

Dr Hare has over 30 years experience in teaching TESL/TEFLand Linguistics. He has been involved in teaching Englishfor Specic Purposes (ESP) for individuals, companiesand organizations. He has worked in Qatar, Singapore andMalaysia. For over 20 years, he worked at the InternationalIslamic University Malaysia, where he was involved in settingup and teaching courses for the BA in English, MA in ESL, andthe PhD in ESL. At IIUM, he was also co-editor of the online
journal Asiaticpublished by the Department of English. DrHare has published and presented papers internationally. Hisresearch interests are Course Design and Evaluation, CriticalDiscourse Analysis, and Functional Grammar.
