More than theatre making, the company collaborates with more partnerships, artists, communities and places than ever before, across more artforms and in a huge variety of ways. It creates work to animate public spaces, spark regeneration and imagine new futures. At the heart of Big Telly’s ethos is innovation – exploring new ways and new places to engage people with performance. Often where they least expect it. It has become a specialist in creating multi-site immersive theatre games (Merchant Quest, Newry, Degree of Danger, University of Ulster) and this summer toured the extraordinary ‘Operation Elsewhere’ – a mythical quest based on Tir na n’Og, played by audience teams. In addition to its flagship ‘Creative Shops’ programme and other truly community focused work, the company maintains its professional and touring programme and

David Hockney at the Royal Academy of Arts and ‘A Bigger Picture’Thursday 24 January, 11am & 3pm Tickets: £5 (group booking discount available for schools)‘[He] put figurative art back centre stage.’ Martin Gayford (Art Critic)

David Hockney

Widely considered Britain’s most popular artist, David Hockney is a global sensation with exhibitions in London, New York, Paris and beyond attracting millions of visitors worldwide. The latest film in the Exhibition on Screen series allows up-close access to this 21st-century master and his two recent hugely successful landmark exhibitions held at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Featuring intimate and in-depth interviews with Hockney, the film offers rare insight into the man behind such iconic works as A Bigger Splash and A Closer Grand Canyon. In the film, Hockney reveals anecdotes from across his artistic and personal life - from hisfirst trip abroad to Egypt in 1963, to the effects of the death of his close friend Jonathan Silver in 1997, right up to today. Directed by Phil Grabsky, this is a great film for art lovers and art students aged 15+.

Friday 1 February, 11am. Tickets: £3 The little Lost Bear finds himself in a world that is full of lost things, including lost toys, lost hats, lost socks and umbrellas. Lost Bear travels to try and find his way home, his journey takes him through lost worlds, the seaside, the jungle and finally a trip to the moon. Along the way he meets other lost toys, Scary Shark Mischievous Monkey and the Revolving Robot, until he finds himself facing the most unusual foe of all – Steggyasaurus! A gentle tale for little ones by Scotland’s leading children’s puppet theatre company, this is a magical production combining puppets and shadow theatre with original music and sounds.Suitable for aged 3+ years. Duration: 45 mins

Renoir, Revered and Reviled

Thursday 21 February, 11am & 3pmTickets: £5 (group booking discount available for schools)Known and loved for his impressionist paintings of Paris, the work of Pierre-Auguste is world-renowned. Renoir, however, grew tired of this style and changed course. This stunning film – based on the remarkable collection of 181 Renoirs at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia – examines the direction he then took and why it provokes such extreme reactions right up to today. Some claim they are repulsed by Renoir’s later works and some claim they are seduced. What may surprise many is that among the many artists who sought Renoir’s new works out and were clearly highly influenced by them were the two giants of the 20th century – Picasso and Matisse. The film is a fresh new biography of this artistic giant but more than that it uncovers a rarely told story that places Renoir as a critical link between the old and the new. Written and Directed by Phil Grabsky, this is a great film for art lovers and art students aged 15+.
