Name : Department of History

INTRODUCTION:

History is an important subject as it helps to understand the past to predict

the future and help in creating it. Studying history gives students wide

opportunities to get better understanding of our past experiences. Keeping this

in mind, Department of History, which started in 1972-73 has been playing a

vital role in imparting practical and experiential knowledge to the students.

It organizes various programs like state and university level seminars and

workshops on different historical issues. It conducts a number of activities like

guest lectures, group discussions, wall paper exhibitions, visits to historical

places, heritage walk, tribute to martyrs and so on.

‘A Certificate Course in Modi Script’ is unique and innovative programme run

by the department of history every year since 2011. The department takes

special efforts in building confidence among the students and prepare them for

competitive examinations

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

AIM:

To inculcate human values through the knowledge of History,

Critical thinking, Nationalism, Patriotism and ability to become a

good citizen of nation among the students.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To create interest in History and Patriotism among the students.

2. To create critical approach for the personality development among

the students.

3. To empower application of Historical knowledge in day today life

of the students.

4. To inculcate importance of Historiography and History sources

among the students.

5.To create awareness towards competitive examination and

preparing good citizens.

6. To inculcate importance of local History as well as world History

among the students.
