Arts Open WelcomearTS oPEn is an event designed to promote regional visual arts in historic Castlemaineand the surrounding district. offering a rare opportunity to visit studios and galleries withinthe shire and experience a behind the scenes, personal look at artists in their naturalhabitat, discuss their artwork and techniques, and purchase directly from the artist.
beginning as a boom town after gold was discovered in 1851, Castlemaine and theMount alexander Shire now boasts a vibrant community with an eclectic mix of peopleand a broad range of historical, culinary, artistic and social opportunities for visitors.
