Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts presents the exhibition “Through the pages of “The Captain’s Daughter”. A.S.Pushkin in the Orenburg region” dedicated to the 80 th anniversary of the Orenburg region in the A.S. Pushkin State Historical and Literature Museum and Reserve. This exhibition will be held within the framework of the program of the Pushkin Museums Community in Russia. Every citizen of Orenburg is proud of the fact that in 1833 their city was visited by the great poet A.S. Pushkin in order to gather the material for the book about the “Pugachev's Rebellion” and at that time he also met with V.I.Dal, a famous lexicographer. All of these facts are described by many authors and artists. The Orenburg graphic artist Andrei Presnov didn’t fail to be moved to this theme, he created an outstanding series “A.S. Pushkin and V.I. Dal in Orenburg” and the illustrations for “The Captain’s Daughter” of A.S. Pushkin. The basis of exhibition includes the works that can acquaint the audience with the series of Puskin’s visit of Orenburg with the illustrations for the book “The Captain’s Daughter” published in 1999 by the publishing house of V.V. Volodin “NOVOE VREMYA”, Saint- Petersburg. Many of works have a chamber character; every detail from the landscape to the clothing of the poet is done carefully and amorously. The artist has been working on the engravings for many years, remaking, adding and specifying them. The theme of Pushkin demonstrates that such characteristics as simplicity and clearness of the graphic language as well as the deepness of intention, the process of cherishing an idea and flowing it through the soul are the main qualities for an artist. It is the graphic portraits of A.F. Presnov which can show us a deep artistically adjusted visualization of the poet and its joining to the documentarily precise landscape. This exhibition will be held with the support of the Orenburg State Agrarian University, professor Alla Phedorova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, member of the Peter's Academy of Arts and Sciences, Head of Chair of the National History, director of the Museum “The Captain’s Daughter” (Orenburg region, Saraktash district, Krasnaya Gorka) There will be presented the publications in different languages and reconstructed garments as specified in “The Captain’s Daughter”.
