MISSIONSTATEMENT

As-Sadiq Islamic School will be an inviting academic institution where all individuals workharmoniouslytoachieveexcellenceineducationwhileinasafeandhealthyenvironmentthatisinfused with Islamic values. THEGOALS

The goal of As-Sadiq Islamic School is to educate studentswith the best and religious values,whilecomplyingwiththeOntarioMinistryofEducation.Parentsareencouragedtogetinvolvedwiththeirchildren'seducationandtoparticipateintheregularParent-TeacherAssociation(PTA)meetings.As-SadiqIslamicSchoolisstructuredtoallowthestudentstoinvolvetheirparentsintheirschoollifeandschoolwork.As-SadiqIslamicSchoolwillimpartreligiousandmoraleducation,accordingtotheprinciplesoftheJa'fariIslamicfaith,soastoinculcateinthestudentsanintegratedIslamicpersonality.To meet this goal, students will receive instruction in Islamic Studies, Qur'an recitation andmemorization,salatandremembranceofspecialIslamicevents/holidays.ThecurriculumisfullyintegratedwithIslamicperspectives,includingknowledge,history,traditionsandvalues,andthestudentsreceivedailyreinforcementinIslamicpersonalitytraitsandmoralethics.Theschoolwillpromoteuniversallyacceptedvaluesoftolerance,mutualunderstanding,peace,andgoodcitizenship.Webelievethatnotwochildrenareidentical.Aneffectiveschoolprogramrespondstothisdiversitywithacurriculumthatwillmeetindividualdifferencesandmaximizeeachstudent'spotential.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Signing-in

Allstudentswhoarriveatschoolafterthestartoftheschoolday,whichbeginsat8:30a.m.withthemorningexercises,mustsigninattheOfficebeforegoingtoanyclasses.

Signing-Out

Astudentwishingtobedismissedearlyfromschoolmustcometotheoffice.Thestudentmustpresentadatednote,signedbyaparent/guardianand/orphonecallstatingthereasonandtimeofthesign-out,totheSecretarybeforethebeginningofmorningassembly.Studentsundertheageof18cannotbereleasedfromtheschoolforanyreasonwithoutparentalpermission. We recommend that any scheduling routine doctor/dentist appointments orpersonalbusinessbedoneattheendoftheschoolday.

Late to School

School day begins at 8:30 a.m. If a student arrives any time after 8:30 a.m. then he/she ismarkedlate.Studentsareexpectedtobeontimeandpreparedforeachperiod.Theymustbeinclass incompleteuniformwithall therequiredbooksandmaterials.Lateness isdetrimental tothe progress of the student who is late. Lateness also causes a disruption of the class and isdisrespectfultotheteacherandstudentsintheclassroom.Interventionsforstudentswhoarefrequentlylate:

Absences

When a student is absent from school, it is the student’s responsibility to complete all workmissedduetotheirabsence.Ameetingwithteachersuponareturnfromabsenceisencouraged.Please call the school before 9:00 a.m. to informof student’s absence. For planned absences,pleasemakearrangementswiththeteacherandtheschoolinadvance.

Procedure Aparent/guardianMUSTcontacttheschoolifastudentistobeabsent.Ifnophonecalland/ornoteisprovidedtoverifythestudent’sabsence,thestudentmustreporttotheOfficebeforethestartofperiod1toreceivea“readmit”toclassslip.If a student has been absentwithout reason, amark of zeromay be assessed for incompletework. Furthermore, the student may receive community service, a school detention orsuspensionfromschoolforskippingaclass.

Extended Absences Itisessentialthatourstudentsattendallclassessothattheydonotfallbehind.Pleasearrangeyourholidaystocoincidewiththeschoolholidaysoutlinedinthesignificantdatessection.Studentsshouldnotbewithdrawnotherwise.Itistheparents’andstudent’sresponsibilitytoobtainandcompleteallmissedworkfromtheteacher.Teachersarenotresponsibleforre-teachingmissedworkorsupplyinghomeworktostudentswhoareonholidayoutsidetheallottedtime.

Weappreciateandrecognizeconcernaboutstudentsmissingassignmentsandhomeworkwhentheyareabsent.Obviously,completinghomeworkisakeytotheirlearningsuccess.Atthesametime,itisoftendifficultforstudentstocompletetheirhomeworkunlesstheyhavebeeninclassduringtheday.Wewanttoencouragestudentstotakeindividualresponsibilityincompletingtheirhomeworkandmissedassignments.Theyshouldhavebuddysysteminwhichtheyareresponsibleforgettinginformationfromaclassroombuddythatwillkeeptheminformedofassignments/homeworkmissedduringabsences.Parentsareencouragedtohelptheirchildrentobecomemoreresponsibleinthisregard.Itisnottheresponsibilityoftheparenttogetmissedworkorassignmentsbuttheresponsibilityofthestudent.Parentsaretoassisttheirchildtobecomemoreresponsible.

FieldTripsandExcursions

Aspartofthecurriculum,As-Sadiqstudentsundertakeregularfieldtripsoffschoolpropertyandexcursions around the school, typically three times per year. It is expected that all studentsattendtheseactivitiesinordertobenefitfromthelearningandhands-onexperiences.PleasefillouttheformpermittingyourchildtoparticipatewhileatAs-Sadiq.Particularinformationaboutfieldtrips issentnearthedateofthetrip.Allstudentsmustbe inschooluniformduringfieldtripsandallconductonfieldtripsmustcomplywiththeschool'sCodeofConduct.

Admissions

• Admission to As-Sadiq Islamic School is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. New Students

The classroom teacherwill assess new students during the first twoweeks of school before afinalplacement ismade.Somestudentsmayrequirespecialattention.As-Sadiqdoesnothavethe resources to accommodate students with special needs. Transportation

The school currently has one bus from Scarborough,which help parents bring children to theschool.Thebusfareis$160permonthperchild.Theschoolwillrunabusprovidedthereareatleast15studentsonthebus.Parentscanregistertheirchildrenonthebasisthattheschoolbuswillbeavailable.Registrationformsforthebusshouldbecompletedonlineatthesametimeastheregistrationfortheschool.Iftherearelessthan15studentsonthebus,parentswillhavetomaketheirownarrangementstobring their children to the school. Ifparentsdecidenot to send their children to the schoolbecausetherewerenotenoughchildrentotakethebus,theywillbeentitledtoafullrefundofthedepositandregistrationfees(whereapplicable).

MediaRelease

It is the normal practice of many private schools to showcase their students and theirachievementstotheschoolstakeholdersandgreatercommunity.Theschoolendeavorstotakephotographsandvideoinordertoachievethisaim.Ifforanyreasonyouwishyourchildtobenotphotographedorvideorecordedduringschool,afterschool,inschoolclubs,orfieldtrips,pleasesendawrittenlettertotheschoolindicatingyourpreference.
