The preliminary and qualification rounds will be run as a round robin tournament. The game schedule

and match format for each event will be sent out by Wednesday 27th January 2016. Please note, where

more than one group is required the top four teams from 2015 will be seeded to ensure that these

teams are not all in the same group.

Should your team qualify for the ASA Water Polo Championship Finals weekend (semi-finals and

finals), your team will be invited to play at the Manchester Aquatics Centre on 23 – 24 April 2016.

Membership When entering, a list of players currently registered for your club, at the correct age for the

competition, will be displayed. You will then select up to 20 players from this list for the player

registration form. You will NOT be able to manually input additional players who do not show on the

list.

Therefore it is of the utmost importance that ALL players within your club have up to date membership

records.

You can check that they are registered, in the correct category and for your club, by visiting the

membership check online here. If any players have selected to have their data hidden you will not be

able to select them. To get this changed the player must contact the membership department on

01509 640 727.

If you need to register an additional player before you enter, we advise that you send the paper work

as soon as possible and when contacting the membership department, you make them aware it is for

the event, and therefore needs to be processed swiftly.

Please note that changes to the membership system can take 48 hours to appear on the online

system, so please take this into account.

To ensure your players appear under your team on the entries page, please ensure you contact ASA

Memberships with any membership forms or the events office with any questions no later than 7 days

before the closing date to ensure they are processed and appear online in time. After this time it

cannot be guaranteed the players membership will be processed in time and appear on the entry

system.

How to Enter

Please make sure you read through the event conditions carefully before entering. The event

conditions can be found from page 6 onwards in this document.

All entries must be made online, paper entries will not be accepted.

The closing date for entries is 12 noon, Wednesday 13 January 2016

All teams, including most players, must be entered by this date.

A maximum of 20 players can be added for each team.

From 10 am, Thursday 14 January 2016 late additional players will be permitted to be added to teams

(up to a maximum of 20) at a cost of £5 per player up until 14 days before the respective preliminary

round (See table of deadlines below).

Please note: Once you have submitted your team entry you will not be able to add additional players

until the additional player entry window opens at a cost of £5 per player. The additional player entry

window will open at 10am Thursday 14th January.

We will send information about how these additional players can be added nearer the time.

THE ASA WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHAMPIONSHIPS CONDITIONS – VERSION DMB May 2014

These Championships shall be competed for under the Laws, Rules, Regulations and Championship

Conditions of the Association.

The promoter of these Championships shall be the ASA Water Polo Management Group.

DEFINITIONS

“Club” and “Clubs” shall include the teams of affiliated clubs, or representative teams of Regions or

Associations.

“Championships Director” shall be a person appointed by ASA Water Polo Management Group for

the purpose of managing all aspects of these Championships.

“Event” shall refer to any form of shared venue event.

1 LIST OF CHAMPIONSHIPS

1.1 The following Championships shall be conducted annually, and open to clubs affiliated

to the ASA, the Scottish ASA, the Welsh ASA or Swim Ireland.

Men’s club U19 Championship for the Perpetual Challenge Cup, presented by the

Derbyshire ASA In memory of K.S. Swain. This Championship shall be for players under

the age of nineteen years at midnight on December 31st in the year of the competition.

Women’s Club U19 Championship for the Dougie Scales Memorial Trophy, presented by the Southport S.C. This Championship shall be for players under the age of nineteen years at midnight on December 31st in the year of competition.

Men’s Club U17 Championship for the W.J.Read Trophy. This Championship shall be for players under the age of seventeen years at midnight on December 31st in the year of competition.

Women’s Club U17 Championship for the Edith and Tom Lythe Memorial Trophy, presented by the Lancaster City AS & WPC. This Championship shall be for players under the age of seventeen years at midnight on December 31st in the year of competition.

Men’s Club U15 Championship. This Championship shall be for players under the age of fifteen years at midnight on December 31st in the year of competition.

Women’s Club U15 Championship for the trophy presented by the GB Women’s Squad 1996. This Championship shall be for players under the age of fifteen years at midnight on December 31st in the year of competition.

1.1a The following Championships may be conducted annually, and open to clubs affiliated to the ASA, the Scottish ASA, the Welsh ASA or Swim Ireland.

Men’s Club Senior Championships for the Perpetual Challenge Shield presented by the Ravensbourne S.C. London 1896.

Women’s Club Senior Championships for the trophy presented by the GB Women’s Squad 1996.

1.2 Particulars of the format for each Championship, including the calendar referred to in conditions 14, shall be published annually as an appendix to these Conditions, and shall be deemed to form part of these Conditions.

2. MANAGEMENT 2.1 The Championships shall be conducted in accordance with the following Conditions. Their promotion and management shall be vested in the ASA Water Polo Management Group (as above), herein referred to as “the WPMG”, which may appoint a Championship Committee, herein referred to as “the Committee”. The Committee shall comprise three members appointed by the WPMG, one of whom shall be the Championships Director. 2.2 Anything not covered by these Conditions shall be determined by the Committee which shall also enjoy the authority to determine any matter arising from any ambiguity or uncertainty within the published Conditions. 2.3 The Committee shall appoint an Event Manager for each event, who shall be responsible for ensuring that the Conditions of the Championships are complied with and that allowable expenses are submitted to the ASA for payment. 3. RULES OF THE GAME 3.1 All games shall be conducted in accordance with the FINA Technical Rules of Water Polo except where varied from time-to-time by these Conditions. 3.1 For the purpose of these Championships the teams shall start each game with seven players, one of whom shall be the goalkeeper. 3.3 The field of play shall be as near as practicable to the full size but shall not be less than 22.5m long, 11.0m wide and 1.5m deep. 3.4 All games shall be played in pools in which the water temperature is recommended to be between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius (77.0 to 80.6 degree Fahrenheit) but in no case shall the water temperature be less than 18 degrees Celsius (64.4 degrees Fahrenheit). 3.5 In the case of a single game for which the home or promoting club has failed to provide a field of play complying with these conditions, the referee (s) shall report the circumstances to the Championships Director within 3 days of the fixture. The committee shall have the power to order any of the following: (a) the award of the game to the away club; (b) the game to be rearranged; (c) the result of the game to stand; (d) the payment of a fine not exceeding £75 by the offending club; (e) the re-imbursement by the offending club of allowable expenses in the case of 3.5 4 ENTRIES AND ELIGBILITY 4.1 A club can enter more than one team in any Championship. 4.2 Clubs wishing to enter teams in any of the Championships shall do so by completing an online entry which shall be submitted to the Championship Director, together with the appropriate electronically transmitted entry fees with confirmation that the electronically transmitted entry fees.

4.3 As part of the online entry each club shall submit a list of the players from whom the team will be selected, with their current registration numbers. By submitting the online entry the club makes a declaration that each all the players on the list are (a) members of the ASA, SASA, WASA or Swim Ireland at the time of entry with their information and entry club visible on the on-line entry system, (b) are eligible to be members of that team, (c) comply with any age conditions for the Championship, that the person making application accepts on behalf of the club the Championship Conditions and that all the information given is correct. 4.4 The Championships Director shall issue an electronic confirmation within 21 days after the closing date for entries indicating whether the entry has been accepted or not. The Committee may decline to accept the entry of any club or team. 4.5 If more than one team from the same club is entered, each set of players shall be separately listed and there shall be no interchange of players between them during that Championship. The list shall be deemed to be part of the entry. No additions to the list shall be accepted after the closing date for entries. 4.6 A player’s home postcode shall determine for which Region or Association the player is eligible to play in these Championships. 4.7 The minimum age of a player shall be 11 years at midnight on the day of the match. 5. THE DRAW 5.1 The draw for each Championship shall be made within 28 days of the closing date for entries. The Championships Director shall notify all clubs of the result of the draw, for each Championship entered. 5.2 All byes shall be cleared in the preliminary or first round of a Championship. For the subsequent rounds of a Championship, numbers presenting the winner of each game shall be drawn by lot. 6. GAME OFFICIALS 6.1 The Champions Director shall co-ordinate the provision of sufficient officials for each game. 6.2 In the case of a event where a Delegate is appointed, the Delegate shall nominate the Referees for each game from the list of appointments. 6.3 An appointed referee unable to officiate shall without delay notify the person named on the appointment document, who shall appoint a substitute if possible. 7. NOTICE OF GAMES 7.1 The Championships Director shall give not less than 10 days’ notice of the details for the next round. 7.2 A club having not received the specified notification shall take all reasonable steps to ascertain the date, time and venue of the game and such steps shall be taken into account by the Committee in any decision regarding any forfeiture of the game.

8. EQUIPMENT 8.1 The Championships Director shall co-ordinate the provision of all equipment necessary to stage an event as listed in FINA Water Polo Rule WP1. 9. MATCH RECORD SHEETS 9.1 Each club representative shall submit to the match secretary, not less than 30 minutes before the game is due to start, a typed list of the 13 players with cap numbers which shall be used for all purposes. If a game programme has been published with cap numbers provided by the club prior to the game, these numbers shall be used for all purposes, subject only to variation by the Delegate (if appointed) or the referees, whose decision shall be final. 9.2 The match secretary shall, on the official match record sheet, enter the names of all officials, players, and other standard details required before the start of the game and then maintain a record of the game. At the end of the game the match secretary shall complete the match record sheet, and then hand it to the referees, who shall check and sign it. 9.3 The Event Manager shall submit the completed match record sheet to the Championships Director within two days of the game. If a game is not played or not brought to a proper conclusion, the details of the circumstances shall be recorded on the sheet by the Event Manager or referee (s), as appropriate. 9.4 The Championships Director shall circulate the results of all games in a Championship to all clubs entered in that Championship as soon as possible after, and in any case within seven days, of the competition. 10. EVENT CONDITIONS 10.1 Where a Championship is played as a series of groups, each team shall play each other in their group once. Two points shall be awarded for a win and one point for a draw. 10.2 Should the scores be level at full time in any game for which a definite result is required, there shall be a penalty shoot out to determine the result in accordance with the procedure described in FINA Rule WP 11.3 [See appendix2]. 10.3 Where two or more teams have equal points to placing shall be decided by considering the following factors in order until a precedence is established by: (a) the team gaining the most points in the games between those teams; (b) the team with the greatest goal difference in the games between teams; (c) the team scoring the most goals in the games between those teams; (d) the team with the greatest goal difference overall; (e) the team scoring most goals overall; (f) in the event of continuing equality the placing shall be decided by lot as directed by the Championships Director. 11. TROPHIES 11.1 Trophies, where appropriate, shall be presented to the winners on the day of competition or on the day of the final, subject to the regulations laid down in the ASA Trophy regulations.

12. MEDALS 12.1 For each Championship the winning teams shall receive thirteen gold medals, the runners-up thirteen silver medals and third places thirteen bronze medals. 12.2 Only those players listed on the match record sheet and in attendance shall be presented with medals on the day of the final. In instances of misbehaviour or other extenuating circumstances, medals may be withheld from a team or individual by the Event Manager, in consultation with the Delegate (if appointed). 13. EXPENSES 13.1 The regulations for the payment of expenses by the ASA are specified in the ASA Handbook. 13.2 Each club shall be responsible for its own travelling and any other expenses in all rounds, groups and finals. 13.3 The promotional expenses of finals shall be borne by the ASA. 14. DATES AND VENUES OF EVENTS 14.1 The Committee shall annually draw up a water polo calendar of dates of rounds, groups, final ties and final events and shall publish this calendar not later than 1st October in the year preceding the Championships as far as is practicable. All games shall be played on the date published in the calendar. 14.2 No game shall be timed to start before 10.00 a.m. or later than 9.00 p.m. on a Saturday or later than 6.00 p.m. on a Sunday without the consent of the participating clubs. 15. TEAM WITHDRAWING 15.1 A team that withdraws from a Championship: (a) prior to the initial draw shall not be penalised; (b) after the draw has been made and more than 10 clear days before its next game, shall be fine £75.00 and/or shall pay such expenses as the Committee may decide; (c) with less than 10 clear days’ notice before its next games, shall be fined £100.00 and/ or shall pay such expenses as the Committee may decide; (d) having qualified to complete in a final tie, shall be fined £100.00 and/ or shall pay such expenses as the Committee may decide. 15.2 In the case of a team withdrawing from or failing to participate in an event or final the event shall be played between the remaining teams. 15.3 The team last defeated by the withdrawing team shall qualify for and play in the final tie provided arrangements can be made. If arrangements cannot be made, a new date for a final tie may be arranged at the discretion of the Committee or the final event shall be played between the remaining teams, as the case may be.

16. DELAYED START 16.1 If the start of a game is delayed beyond 5 minutes of the published start time the club responsible for the delay may be fined £10.00 and if the start of a game is delayed beyond 15 minutes, may be fined £25.00. 17. FAILURE TO FULFIL A FIXTURE 17.1 If a club fails to have 7 players available to start an event game at the appointed start time, the game may be cancelled by the Event Manager and deemed to be a non-fulfilment if the start is delayed beyond 15 minutes of the published start time. 17.2 In the case of any non-fulfilment, the Event Manager, a referee, and the secretary of each club involved, shall within 3 days submit a written report to the Committee, which shall have the power to order any of the following: (a) The award of the game to the non-offending club; (b) The game to be rearranged; (c) The payment of a fine of £100.00 by the offending club; (d) The re-imbursement by the offending club of allowable expenses in the case of 17.2(b).

18. FINES AND EXPENSES 18.1 All fines and expenses ordered under these Conditions shall be sent to the Championships Director and made payable to the ASA, within 21 days of the date of the notification of the decision. 18.2 Failure to comply with this Condition shall result in an additional fine of £20.00 and the team may be disqualified from the Championship by the Committee. 18.3 Failure to pay the whole of the outstanding monies within a further 14 days of the notification fine may be dealt with under the ASA Judicial Laws. 19. INELIGIBLE PLAYER 19.1 A club playing one or more ineligible players may be deemed to have lost the game, forfeit any points gained in the game to their opponents, may be fined £100.00 and shall pay such expenses as the Committee may decide. 19.2 The non-offending team shall have the option of recording a 5 – 0 score in its favour or maintaining the score as recorded on the match record sheet. 20. UNLISTED PLAYERS 20.1 A club playing one or more players not included in the team’s submitted list of entrants may be deemed to have lost the game, forfeit any points gained to the game to their opponents, may be fined £25.00 and shall pay such expenses as the Committee may decide. 20.2 The non-offending team shall have the option of recording a 5 – 0 score in its favour or maintaining the score as recorded on the match record sheet.

21. SCOTTISH, WELSH & IRISH CLUBS 21.1 By completing the online entry a club affiliated to the Scottish or Welsh ASA or Swim Ireland shall undertake to accept the jurisdiction of the ASA in all matters affecting these Championships. Issues arising from games played in Scotland or Wales or Ireland shall be dealt with by the Committee. 22. APPENDICES Appendix 1: Annual Statement of Calendar and Format of Championships Appendix 2: Penalty Shoot Out (FINA WP Rule 11.3): APPENDIX 1 Annual Statement of Calendar and Format of Championships APPENDIX 2 Penalty Shoot Out (FINA WP Rule 11.3) Should the scores be level at full time in any game for which a definite result is required, there shall be a penalty shoot out to determine the result. The following procedure shall be followed: (a) if it involves the two teams having just completed a game, the shoot out will begin immediately and the same referees will be used (b) otherwise, the shoot out will occur 30 minutes following the completion of the final game of that round, or at the first practical opportunity. The referees involved in the most recent game of that round will be used, provided they are neutral (c) if two teams are involved the respective coaches of the teams will be requested to nominate five players and goalkeeper who will participate in the penalty shoot out; the goalkeeper may be changed at any time provided the substitute was listed amongst the team list in that game (d) the five players nominated will be required to be listed in order and that order will determine the sequence in which those players will shoot at their opponents goal; the sequence cannot be changed (e) no players excluded for the game are eligible to be listed amongst those players to shoot or substitute as goalkeeper (f) if the goalkeeper is excluded during the penalty shoot out, a player from the nominated five players may substitute for the goalkeeper but without the privileges of the goalkeeper; following the taking of the penalty shot, the player may be substituted by another player or alternate goalkeeper. If a field player is excluded during the penalty shoot out, the player’s position is removed from the list of the five players participating in the penalty shoot out, and a substituted player is placed in the last position on the list (g) shots will be taken alternately at each end of the field of play, unless conditions at one end of the field of play advantage and/or disadvantage a team, in which case all shots may
