Hyderabad:Amnesty International India (AII) onThursday demanded Telangana and AP to orderindependent criminal investigations into controversialencounters in Alair and Sheshachalam forest. In a releaseissued on Thursday, AII referred about the encounter ofViquaruddin and four others were seen handcuffed insidethe van at the time of encounter. “According to guidelinesissued by NHRC in 2014, alleged fake encounters must beprobed by an independent agency,” the release added. Inanother release, referring to the Seshachalam forestencounter in which 20 wood-cutters from TN were killed,Amnesty said that after the independent investigation, “ifit is found that killings are unlawful, those responsibleshould be brought to justice”. Muslim body demands high-leveljudicial probe into encounter killings

All India Majlis-e-Mushawarat, an apexbody of different Muslimorganisations in the country, has

urged the Centre to form a high-level judicialpanel for a time-bound probe into the recentkilling of five undertrial alleged SIMIactivists. The Majlis chief Zafurul Islam in astatement on Thursday said all independentaccounts suggested that the victims werehandcuffed when the killing took place. Khansaid senior NDA functionaries were assertingthat “Indian Muslims were immune to thedesigns of International terrorism” while thesecurity forces were “in fact pushing Muslimyouths into the hands of the forces ofextremism and terrorism”.
