Welcome

Today we welcome Auckland Football to the sunny North Shore and QBE Stadium. This season started with some mixed results for our Northern Football ASB Women’s League team. We began our campaign on a positive note with an away win on our trip to Otago followed by a couple of draws and a recent defeat to Capital. This season has been a new challenge for me and is an exciting time to be taking over the head coaching role.

We have placed a real emphasis on team culture and embraced the development philoso-phy of the league. The work our girls are putting in is producing some great football that is highlighting a hunger for our players to grow and develop their games at the next level. As always this league is an opportunity for some of our younger players to showcase their abilities and proves that there is plenty of potential, highlighting that Women’s football in New Zealand is healthy and heading in the right direction. While we may have struggled to get the results we have deserved, the brand of football that is being produced follows the path of our NZ Football Ferns and is something to be proud of. This year we have made some changes from previous seasons and introduced some new, younger players who have stepped up to the national league level. Watch out as there are a few potential future Ferns to keep a close eye on in action today. The remaining rounds will clearly see how our season has developed for our Northern Foot-ball side. Round Five vs Auckland is a great challenge for us and in the following weeks we look forward to taking on the top three teams currently in the competition to prove ourselves as one of the leading federations in Women’s Football in New Zealand. We hope you enjoy the football on offer today and continue to support our great game.
