The aim of this post is to look at Ascendants in a different light given by mostastrological texts.

Each Ascendant comes with certain fighting capability. This is related to my earlier postwhere each planet A can face off another planet B or knows the weakness of a planet C

(in the context of this post we will call it unveiling). But it is not mandatory. Certain

planets like Jupiter neither has a pechant for knowing the weaknesses of others (noplanets it can pull the rug from down under) nor does it do a facing off of anyone

(planets) meaning it gives the other person (planet) the leeway in how he wants to do

things. Jupiter is really kind.

There are also two other planets D and E which can help planet A in achieving its goal.

One knows the objectives of planet A (planet D) the other does not (planet E). We call

the first relationship working hand-in-hand and the other assistance.

To reiterate, for this post, we are referring to planetary relationships on top of the normal

planetary friendships or enemies given by astrological texts. The normal relationshipswould only be referenced if it serves to make the exposition cleared.

Generally Ketu can defeat Rahu but since Ketu casts no aspects only if Rahu is in a sign

ruled by Ketu or in a sign disposited by a planet which conjuncts Ketu can the defeatoccur. Both nodes can subdue all planets but note that planetary friendships of Rahu with

Mercury, Venus, Saturn and in my opinion Rahu; and for Ketu it is Sun, Moon, Mars and

Jupiter.

Detailed below is a list of Ascendants on how they can protect you from harm in terms ofthose areas ruled by those planets where the Ascendant ruler can defeat and those areaswhere it is either weakned or have or no say or those areas where it can work at its best

and those areas where it is good at. Note that planets in the Ascendant can modify the

results of what is given in the list below. In that case expect some mixture of factorsbetween the planet characteristic and the sign characteristic. The sign characteristic also

comes in and we will make casual reference of it because most of the planets rule two

signs but this is not the subject of this post.

Aires Ascendant - Ruler is Mars.

They dislike people who are not straightforward and up to their tricks (Mercury).Students, traders, sellers, businesspeople, speculative venturists etc. make them very

suspicious and get on their nerves. Similarly neither do these group of people want to

deal with Aires people Ascendants because they know either they cannot make a fastbuck out of them or learn from them (in the case of students).

They are very submissive to the government though (Sun faces off Mars). They follow

all the government regulations to the core. But the government must be strong otherwise

Aires Ascendant people can complain.

Suprisingly they are very understanding in the bureaucracy of the Ministries (Mars assists

Jupiter) and they work hand-in-hand with their blood relations Aires Ascendant peopleprotect their family like crazy but they also expect them to stand on their feet eventually.

They admire people with good theoretical knowledge, respect teachers and have a good

rapport with the small time shopkeepers and common people in general.

Scorpio Ascent Ruler is Mars and Ketu

Just like Aires Ascendant but the energy can explode at periodic intervals after bottlingup some period of time. Ketus influence means their rage can be terrible. Note also

Scorpios sting, their passionate nature and secretiveness nature. They have an

instinctive knowledge of a situation when their rage can be applied. This means even

conmen (Rahu) are no match to them.

Libra / Taurus Ascendant Ruler is Venus

People who are pompous or act as if they are full of authority (Sun) gets on their nerves

and they do not work well under such people. They have their method of doing things.

They can seduce the Sun into thinking all is well by appearing calm and acquiesce in theinstructions given to them but inwardly they will bottle with rage (revenge later) for

Taurus Ascendant or for Libra Ascendant, they will make life difficult for the Sun later

on either dilly-dallying etc.

These people should not work for the government as they believe that whatever effort

they put in should be counterbalanced by a gain (Libra) or they feel the effort they put indoes not commensurate with the rewards given (Taurus). Libra should go into business

and Taurean people should go for banking and finance where the tangible rewards are

enormous to signal to them that their efforts are well rewarded.

They get on well with their mothers (Venus and Moon are both water element planets)

but lack rapport (they mutually face off one another both Venus and Moon). They

drive a hard bargain in their dealings with the common people but they do understandthem. Similarly, the common people would think that these Venusian people are trying

to gain an upper hand in the transactions with them so they are not cheated but they do try

to be understanding but not until they have voiced their disconcerns.

Venusian people gets on fabulously well with the workers like cleaners, servants,

maintenance people etc. They know that these people would do the necessary hard andnitty gritty work to the premises where they can then carry on with their business.

Venusians being kind would give a few bucks to them. Saturnians would in turn do their

best to support their Princess. The only clash is that Saturnians may not be comfortable

in the lavish surroundings or lavish practices of Venusians.

Venusian people while doing their luxury trades get fabulous help from their accountants,

clerks, administrative officers etc. For the latter the help will be the health of theirbusiness (Libra) or help them to process routine work while they pursue their finance

tasks (Taurus). These Mercurian people knows exactly the objectives of Venusians that

they must stay afloat in their professional world.

Virgo Ascendant Ruler is Mercury

All professionals (Mercury) pay like a duke when they come to patronizing shopkeepers

(Moon). They may be very good in their professional work, but they are not very attuned

to mundane things. If the shopkeeper say something is good for their health, they will

buy and take it.

Businessmen and traders (Mercury) are somewhat perturbed when security men (Mars)

are around even though they know they are there to protect them. Actually they would

rather be left alone to do their own business but in this world, nothing works 100%according to your wishes. Anything which smells of lack of security (Mars) also perturb

them.

Professionals give good support to Venusian occupations as mentioned previously.

They (Mercury) are attracted to people of wise counsel (Jupiter) just like students respectteachers. Jupiterians assist Mercurian to accomplish their objective of carving a niche for

themselves in society by imparting precepts to them for lifelong learning. But their

underlying feeling is still hostility to Jupiterian people (if you use the normal planetaryrelationships) but they keep these to themselves.

Gemini Ascendant Ruler is Mercury and Rahu

Where Virgorians concern work, Geminians like to verbalize more than they work. But

the underlying relationships with other spheres of life (other planets) are the same asVirgoreans. They are conmen of the quick and dirty kind. If an opportunity presents

itself on the spot, they have no hesitation in seizing an opportunity. Translated to good

practices, Geminians are quick to spot any advantages that can accrue to them.

Because of Rahu, Geminians dislike teachers even more than Virgoreans. They are those

that are the pranksters, those that play truants, fly the paper plane during lessons etc. The

combined influence of Mercury and Rahu makes them a flighty character.

Contact with Venusian people (people with good physique) would titillate their senses to

the point of no return, but Venusians which assist Mercurians do not mind at all to givethem some relaxation and pleasure time.

Geminians have a special rapport with the common people although at periodic times

because of Rahu, although there may be sudden bad relationships surfacing because of

the nature of the relationship when Moon comes in contact with Rahu.

Geminians are even more afraid of security people (Mars) than Virgoreans. Their

craftiness in handling the situation is of the highest kind.

Pisces Ascendant Ruler is Jupiter

They get on well with the law a case in point is where security people help them to

open lecture doors (Mars) and the shopkeepers stand ready to give them support any time

knowing their character lecturers, consultants are usually so busy that they seldom stay

at home. They get their groceries from one particular person and the person need nothaggle (unlike in the case of the Mercurian professionals). On top of that they stay at a

place where day to day amenities of this kind because of their high salary enable them to

afford such choice localities.

The government (Sun) can sometimes unduly harsh to academicians (Jupiter). Sun

expects Jupiter to come out of their ivory tower and participate in politics. Their theoriescan also be suspect and sometimes Sun can feel that government funds are wasted on

research which serves no real purpose.

Jupiterians expect places to be cleaned and polished. So they expect a lot from theSaturnian workers like cleaners, maintenance people etc. But the latter can be quite

harsh. They dilly dally and as a result Jupiterians cannot carry on with their professional

tasks like teaching, lecturing etc. By the way teachers usually expect a lot from servants.

Sagittarius Ascendant Ruler is Jupiter and Ketu

The harshness of Ketu when in a rage is softened by Jupiter. But the intuitiveness is

heightened. These people has more rapport with the government, security people and the

shopekeepers generally unlike Piscean Ascendant (Ketu is friendly to Sun, Mars and theMoon).

Otherwise similar to Pisces Ascendant

Capricorn Ascendant Ruler is Saturn

Gets along with Venusian people as detailed above. The shopkeepers (Moon) helps thesepeople by ever ready to provide them with food and daily staff while on their rounds

doing menial tasks. But note that Moon and Saturn are enemies so the relationship is not

always cordial.

They also cannot get on with security, but unlike Geminians and Virgoreans, they cannot

fight back (Mars can unveil Saturn but not the other way round unlike Mercurians which

are always up to their tricks.

Venusian people can always talk around them into doing what Vvenusians want them to

do. They are very obliging to Venusian people.

Jupiterians (teachers and lecturers) assist them by giving explicit instructions. But they

always try to beat the game by going slow etc unlike in their relationship with Venusians.

Aquarius Ascendant Ruler is Saturn and Rahu

Rahu gives them a fighting spirit over security people just like Mercurians esecpially

Geminians. But their fighting is more long drawn because of Saturnian influence. Low

class Venusians attract them and their relationships with teachers and lecturers are even

worse than Capricornians.

They get on better with shopkeepers though.

Otherwise similar to Capricorn Ascendant

Leo Ascendant Ruler is Sun

They are always getting the security people around because they feel that low caste

people are invading their privacy or premises and the security people listen to them.

Security people knows exactly how they feel.

They are the monarchs and they usually get their way with Ministries (Jupiter) through

lobbying in government parliaments etc. However they simply cannot deal with cleanersand maintenance people etc. They leave the management of these people to the section

heads or section leaders (Mars). Venusian people occasionally slip into their lives and

they have clandestine affairs with them.

Cancer Ascendant Ruler is Moon

Security people prowls round to make their stores safe. In the early 20th century,

shopkeepers pay protection fees to security people. Cleaners, maintenance people etc.

help to keep their stores in good working condition. Their shops prosper only if people

are in the vicinity to patronize them and this can only come about if the street lamps,electricity etc. are all in good working condition.

The government (Sun) can sometimes set policies on the relocation of their shops, pricefixing on certain goods etc. Sometimes it can entail hardship (as when the Moon

conjuncts the Sun it completely loses its power and becomes a malefic).

Its relationship with Venusian people have been detailed earlier in the post.
